Absence of Ocean

Absence of Ocean was formed December 2007 by Harrison Barr, Erik Larson, Andrew Ross, and Kyle Sandhage. they began writing their own material and playing shows in the Atlanta area. Kyle left the band in August 2008 to pursue other musical interests, while Harrison, Erik and Andrew continued to find their sound. While AOO continues to evolve musically, their music is heavily influenced by post-rock, shoegaze and post-punk; relating to bands such as Interpol, Radiohead, Explosions in the Sky, Joy Division, Sigur Ros, Slowdive, Brand New, The Cure, and many more. With so many influences and separate, but cohesive musical tastes AOO is able to create a new sound combining the melody from shoegaze bands and the dramatic aspects of post-rock. AOO has released two recordings The Iconoclast Demo and the Absence of Ocean EP. Recorded by Tony Bullard at Acoustech studios (tonybullard.com).
