Absynthe Minded released their debut CD Acquired Taste in February 2004. The Cd was released in Belgium, Holland and Germany. It got great reviews, and was chosen ‘best belgian album of 2004’ by one of the leading belgian newspapers ‘De Morgen’, and was recently cited as ‘probably the best belgian album of this decade’ by Knack, one of the biggest weekly magazines.

At the time of the release of Acquired Taste, the band already had a huge live reputation. With a strong lead singer (Bert Ostyn), guitar, Hammond, piano, a very prominent violin, bas and drums, the band brings a very diverse repertoire going from jazzy pop over Balkan inspired rock to delicate ballads and pure popsongs. Memorable concerts where those at Dranouter, at main stage in front of 20.000 people (2005).

In 2005 the 2nd album New Day is released, again in Belgium, Holland and Germany (label Supermusic).
The single ‘My Heroics, part one’ is their big break through. The song is on most of the radio’s in high rotation for 8 months. It takes New day to a Golden Record, their first one, and the song gets chosen ‘best song of 2005’ by the Zamu Awards (the Belgian Music Oscars). Bert Ostyn receives a 2nd Zamu Award as ‘best singer of 2005’.

Also in 2005 Absynthe Minded wins Bilborock, the biggest European rock rally, in Bilbao (Spain). More than 1500 bands participate every year, the prize Money is over 36.000 euro, to be divided over different categories.

Absynthe Minded plays Rock Werchter, the biggest Belgian festival and the 3rd biggest European festival, with 4 days of 70.000 people) for the first time in july 2006.

One of the biggest fans of the band is Tom Barman, leadsinger of dEUS. He invites the band to do their support act on a part of their European tour: Holland, Portugal and Germany.

In december 2006, the band sings an artist contract with Universal.
The 3de album, ‘There Is Nothing’ was released on March 2nd in Belgium, March 23rd in Holland and May 29th in Germany.
Producer is Jean Marie Aerts, known as guitar player in the legendary TC Matic (Arno’s first band) and as a producer of Urban Dance Squad. The Cd was mastered at Abbey Road (London).
On May 22nd 2008, Absynthe Minded releases a compilation CD in France, through French label Abeille Musique. Hitsingle ‘My Heroics, part one’ is again the key opening French doors. The single is airplayed on all the important radio’s for over 8 months.

In 2008 en 2009 the band regularly plays France, Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium.

In summer 2009 Absynthe Minded releases his fourth titleless album and gets in one week a “golden status” for selling over 17.000 albums. With the hitsingle “envoi” they get airplay on each Belgian radio station and get full attention from national television.
In autumn of 2009 the French major AZ (Universal) signs the band for releasing their latest album in the rest of the world.

In 2012 releases their fifth studio album "As it ever was". The album debuts number one in the Belgium charts and is certified gold within four weeks of it release. In support of the album do European tours in Spring and fall 2012.

The band will tour the USA in 2013 on the back of the American release of the album.
