Bio

Coming off of their recent performance at The Hoosier Dome with  A War Within and Normundy, A Burden To Bear is beginning to make waves in Indiana's metal scene with their high energy performances and unique take on the metalcore genre. The band was founded in January of 2016 when guitarist Wyatt Traxler of Aurorus met frontman Taylor Turpen of Where Troubles Fall. The two began writing music together after they realized how similar their musical interests were. "Everything just kind of fell into place," recalled Wyatt, "It really just felt like we had known each other for years." Led by vocalist and songwriter Taylor, A Burden To Bear blends skull crushing guitar riffs with ferocious deathcore screams.

After the duo released their debut EP, "Unshackled", they relocated to Fort Wayne, Indiana in search of other like-minded musicians. Their first discovery was bassist Jackson Stringer, newly returned to his hometown from Belmont University where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Music Business. The now trio landed a spot on Ghost Killer Entertainment's project "Disney Goes Hardcore" where their cover of "Savages" (from Disney's "Pocahontas") released on September 29th, 2017. Shortly after the release, the trio were joined by local guitarist and vocalist Nick Vawter of Serration. The four piece began working on their upcoming releases with Nick taking over the role of clean vocalist. Needing a drummer, the band united with Damon Vojtkofsky of Burnt Among the Ashes. Due to the success that 'Savages' brought the band after several thousand views on YouTube, A Burden to Bear teamed up with UAC Management to reach a larger audience and further the group's career. Since then, the band has begun playing shows with their current lineup as well as writing new material with UAC's guidance.

As much as A Burden To Bear is enjoying their local success, their sights are set much higher than the Fort Wayne area. The band plans to work their way up the regional music ranks and eventually go on a tour of their own. "The music we write really means a lot to us, and we really want everyone to experience the emotions we feel while we are writing the songs," says Taylor. "One thing that A Burden To Bear stands for is leaving all of your problems at the door. We know that a lot happens in life, but we want everyone to forget about all that stuff and have a good time with us. We not only do what we do for us, but we do it for the fans as well because they go through life just the same as us." "We have a lot of fun being on the stage," adds Jackson, "and seeing kids and adults alike getting down with our music... that's a feeling like no other."
