"Vital and kicks ass in big ways"

Thick, frozen blackened death metal about cannibalism in the Antarctic. It rarely gets more metal than that. “The Orphan” proves it with a hooky riff and a slaying solo. The drumming, however, seals the deal, blasting and exploding in vicious bursts of furiosity. “The Cronos” showcases some of the best Abyssal Frost have to offer, demolishing everything in it’s path with prejudice. The abuse continues on “The Surgeon,” which arguably takes the top slot song-wise thanks to the thrashy attitude it so coldly imparts, but closing epic “The Cannibal” comes damn close to that coveted throne as well. It might not be the most original material, but it’s vital and kicks ass in big ways. Satisfy your hunger as the season grows ever colder, and gnash your canines upon this sinewy offering. - Angry Metal Guy

"ABYSSAL FROST"

Abyssal Frost are a quartet hailing from the USA who have released probably one of the finest albums I have heard in a very long time, entitled Antarsia. I thought that Blackened Death Metal had fallen off the face of the metal world, boy was I wrong! Abyssal Frost have somehow managed to take me back to the late 90’s early 2000’s where the genre was massive. Abyssal Frost’s new released catapults me back to when bands like Nile, Morbid Angel and Deicide were the forerunners of this genre. With brutal riffs a plenty, dark, crushing vocals belting over the insane drumming annihilating absolutely everything with no mercy. Of course there are some more melodic fusions moulded in to the mix to give more depth to the heavier parts, of course, by melodic, I don’t mean wimping out in the slightest, far from it! The melodic parts are still heavy and gut wrenching as one would expect from this genre.

The highlight for me, has got to be Cannibal, this track has all the characteristics that I love about the extreme metal genres, the speed, the aggression, powerful blistering drumming, brutal vocals, and harmonic riffs that follow the vocal lines.

Seriously, if you have never heard Abyssal Frost, you definitely need to check them out, for an underground band, they have all the assets to make it to the big league! Awesome band, awesome album, just wish I could give more than five points for their effort on this monstrous album. - The Metal Age

Bio

First conceptualized in the late 2000s, Abyssal Frost was fully realized in 2018 when Kenan Kerr, Scott Sheldon, and Sheldon Smith of NC progressive death heavyweights Wrath and Rapture combined their musical acuity with lyrics adapted from a dark fable conceived by John C. Stone (Green Fiend, ex-Columns). Through the medium of blisteringly ominous blackened death metal, their first EP "Antarsia" brings to its listeners a cautionary tale of fate, synchronicities, madness, death, and other truths that are much, much worse. Featuring the talents of guest musicians Steven Funderburk(Wretched, Through the Eyes of the Dead, Worsen) and Heinrich Arnold(Aether Realm), Abyssal Frost's debut will appeal to fans of other bands such as Dark Funeral, Hate Eternal, The Black Dahlia Murder and Carach Angren.
