....! The opening act, Aces High, are a group of young blues musicians from my own hometown of Granville, Ohio, just east of
Columbus. The band’s leader, Ben Thomas, and I met at The Granville Hot Licks Blues Festival, several years ago and I quickly remembered the high school senior when he got in touch with me last year about opening for us as The Blues Station.
That show was a big success, so I asked Ben and these talented young people to once again appear on our bill. Their enthusiasm for the blues and for entertaining an audience is infectious and inspirational to me and they did a fantastic job of once again creating that vibe for a wonderful night of music.

Aces High is Granville, Ohio’s finest for the Blues, Soul and Rock and Roll. Widely regarded as one of the Columbus area’s best young bands, Aces High has shared billing with Columbus Blues great (and current IBC champ) “The Sean Carney Band,” and Arnett Howard. The Granville Sentinel has also called them “Granville’s Hottest Band”.
Aces High burns its own brand of blues, mixing classic tunes with a modern touch, as well as highly "danceable" original material.
The group is currently touring Ohio and beyond, from some of the biggest Jazz and Blues festivals in Central Ohio, to bar dates everywhere, with its new release “Nine Times Out of Ten,” a live CD, which has become quite a hit. If you want a rocking show filled with solid Blues, Soul and Rock and Roll, Aces High doesn’t disappoint.
