"Acid Westerns: Band of the Week, Dec 13-19th"

Acid Westerns are casting a spell of magical excitement with their style of music. Being a huge fan of such musical acts as Jimi Hendrix it is nice to know that this style of music is living through Acid Westerns. But, do not peg them as a carbon copy; their original style of music is just adding to the wonderful list of others in the Psychedelic hard rock genre. If you are looking for a band that knows how to kick it hard, then Acid Westerns are going to be a crowd pleaser. - Issac Davis Jr: Junior Cave's Online Magazine

Bio

Our Creedo: At the risk of sounding pretentious, we strongly believe that good music (or art) is never "safe" or commonplace. As musicians, we strive to create unique and powerful songs by challenging convention and genre boundaries. As a band, we try to make our music all inclusive while imbuing it with a sense of passion and personality that attracts listeners to music in the first place.

Our Influence: While being influenced by several abstract subjects (cult film, history, literature, soundscapes), we have a breadth of tangible musical elements. Acid Westerns' music is influenced by many different genres. Like all good historians, we take lessons from the past, namely classic blues rock (Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Creedence Clearwater Revival), Indie/Post Punk (Husker Du, My Bloody Valentine, Dinosaur Jr) and Grunge (Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Kyuss). While incorporating older musical aspects, we take cues from modern genre benders such as The Black Keys, Queens of The Stone Age, TV on the Radio, My Morning Jacket, The Hold Steady and Black Mountain.

Our History: We originally met in 2006 at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville NY. In the course of our three years existence, individual members have hopped residence between states, recording and gigging in between rendezvous. After having settled back in New York in the summer of 2008, we have gigged constantly and begun to record our full length album set for release in Winter 2010.
