"Acoustic Butterfly"

...So slick they could be a roots version (a Scottish version, of course) of Fleetwood Mac and, with a bit of the fashionable local accents and some very neatly arranged vocals, it doesn’t take long for the nod of approval to be given to “Wild Blue” and “Down To River”. If these two songs are representative, then modern folk music has much to offer our ears. Thumbs up to Acoustic Butterfly! - Blues Bunny

Bio

Acoustic butterfly is the brainchild of award winning Scottish singer and songwriter Michael Clark. The band are a mix of family members and close friends that has developed organically over the last 3 years culminating in an award winning performance at the legendary Celtic Connections festival 2010 in their hometown of Glasgow, Scotland. The 2 lead vocals come from cousins Michael and Olivia who are the latest in a long family line of musicians and artists. With over 250 live shows in the last 15 months, their unique style, original material and energetic delivery has wowed audiences throughout the UK and europe and has set the foundations for lasting presence in the live music scene.

The mix of styles and influences is endless, but as a band strong comparisons have been given to legendary groups such as Fleetwood Mac, Little Feat and early Led Zep, but they have a modern twist which rings true with current groups such as Munford & Sons, Gomez, Ray Lamontagne and the Script. As Individuals, the band members have a vast musical knowledge and range of influences that combine to produce a flavoured sound full of nods to classic Jazz, Blues, Roots, Celtic fusion and folk. The instrumentation can vary in the band with additional fiddles, traditional harps, mandolins and a mix of instruments often
turning up at the live shows.

It is not surprising that with over 250 gigs in the last 15months, they have recently been quoted as the hardest working unsigned band in Scotland and their recent debut self titled album, recorded at the start of the year, is gaining rave reviews wherever they go.

Any time away from the live shows the band can be found in the studio recording new material and developing ideas for their 2nd album due to be released early next year.

Acoustic Butterfly are a hard working talented group of people who have devoted their lives to the world of music, if their debut album and award winning live shows are anything to go by they should be here for a long time to come.
