Acoustic Travellers

BandFolkAcoustic

Acoustic soft rock duo.
Acoustic Travellers show their passion for acoustic sounds, integrating guitar, bouzouki and tenor guitar. Their songs speak to the heart of the listeners through personal narratives and images, but they also speak to their minds, with lyrics touching social aspects.

Biography

Folk-rock duo Acoustic Travellers, formed in Bologna, Italy, at the end of the 90s.

In the early years, the duo focused on reinterpreting classic songs of American and British rock and classic folk traditions (Dylan, Beatles, CSN&Y, Simon & Garfunkel and many others), with a taste for essential acoustic arrangements (a sort of “less is more” approach) and vocal harmonies. Later on, they started writing and publishing their own material.

They have performed in the most significant venues in the north of Italy, including the world famous "Ferrara Buskers Festival".

Lyrics

Song to Richard Nickel

Written By: Acoustic Travellers

“Anyone who tries to save landmarks
in Chicago is goofy enough
to preach celibacy in a playboy club
or non-violence to Dick Butkus”
Someone wrote of you

Nice to meet you though I know I’m late
I saw your photographs, your book
Trying to stop their crazy actions
or at least preserve the images
of destruction
You
struggled to stop in town
old buildings being torn down - yeahhhh
Trying
to stop them from being wrecked
advocate to protect - yeahhhhh

I would like to share with you
Amongst many crimes they’ve done
Garrick Theatre makes me wonder
How was it possible to ignore
Her sense of beauty

There is something just more personal
I would like to talk with you
When you realized it was happening
Would you have changed your choices or
or just accepted your fate?

“Anyone who tries to save landmarks
in Chicago is goofy enough
to preach celibacy in a playboy club
or nonviolence to Dick Butkus”
God bless the goofy.

Impossible Love

Written By: Acoustic Travellers

I never looked at you as a woman
Twenty years younger than me
Smart, effective, and gentle in your ways
Till suddenly I realised there’s something else

And I am ready to love again ]
I am ready to love to love ]

Touched by your smile I’m dreaming of you
Hand in hand as lovers always do
More than twenty years between the two of us
It’s even hard to tell you what I feel

Could I rewind the time line of my life?
I would try loosing weight and some years
I wouldn’t mind loosing face & turning page
All is worth for your love in the end

I won’t care about ludicrous comments
People’ll laugh at me when I’m with you
But I can’t steal you youth, your joy, your future
Nothing I offer can compare

But I was ready to love you so ]
I was ready to love, to love ]

And I will write of this impossible love
I will love you in writing you a song
I will dream of an impossible love
I will love you through the notes of my song

Ballad of Lost Things

Written By: Acoustic Travellers

I have a pillow and a time machine
have guitars and tambourines
a bag of toys and magazines
a flying cow and vanilla beans

I have a ring and a teddy bear
a pair of glasses to repair
a list of things I need to buy
a list of things that I will hide

There are times when I wonder
what would I be without you
like a storm without thunder
Nothing real, nothing true

Have a turtle in my yard
a pill to sleep and an old cigar
a telescope to watch the stars
a fireplace and business cards

There are times when I wonder
how'd be the world without you
It’s like a storm without thunder
Nothing real, nothing true

I have a song but it's not real
I have a friend but he's not here
And memories of days to come
memories for everyone

Restless Journey

Written By: Acoustic Travellers

Back to you love
Back home again
After a year spent travellin’ around

Colours I’ve seen
Sounds that I’ve heard
Places and people I’d the pleasure to meet
And enjoy and accept

A passion to go
The need to return
Lot of my time spent on inconsistent plans
to come back and forth

Riding freely
Moving and going around
I talk to my self as never before
As I’ll never be able again

I felt you there
I felt you nearby
Even so far I was keeping you alive
And your memory in mind

Now that I’m sure
I’m not escaping from you
I’m not trying to escape from anything here
Just a wish to go out there

The need to go away
To leave for new ways
Though I will miss you from the very first day
In a restless journey

This is My Son

Written By: Acoustic Travellers

She lived her dream when she moved to the west coast
She could breathe the idea, a vision from the outpost
Raising her son was like building a never ending rainbow
But news came along like a snake on a fair and balanced talk show
That's when she closed her eyes and she never saw him again

They told her things, things she could believe in
They told her lies, Ivy League deceivin’
They said they had this great plan, such a patriotic feeling
But news came along like a knife, cutting through and bleedin'
That's when she opened her eyes and she never saw him again

"You owe me an honest answer, you owe it to all of us"
she flew to DC and screamed "I just want an answer"
"You owe me dignity, you owe me honesty"
when she flew to DC and spoke, and the network made a show
"She's waiting for an answer"

When she said: where is my son? where is my son?
she said: where is my son? where is my son?

It's so easy to tell the winners from the losers
we know them so well, we know the people movers
They say they have great, great plans - don't listen to the rumors
And news come to you like a joke
You can buy them from the dealers
That's when she read from a letter that she'd never see her son again

"You owe me an answer, you owe it to all of us"
when she flew to DC and screamed: "I just want an answer"
"You owe me dignity, you owe me honesty"
a picture in her hands, she was lost in a stranger's land
She's waiting for an answer

When she said: this is my son, this is my son
She said: this is my son, this is my son
