Acrylic Iqon - Biography

Acrylic Iqon evolved in our final year of school in Glasgow. We started the band as a school project and it evolved from there. We've been playing since 2006 and are loving every minute of it.

Our sound can be described as epic upbeat power-pop rock with a bit of synth thrown in here and there.

Our inspiration has been seeing all the local unsigned bands through the years working from nothing to becoming huge successes. Within the band we all have our own influences but collectively we love Blink 182, The Cure, Biffy Clyro, Paramore to name but a few.

What makes us different from other bands? As we are about to leave our teens, at our age, we have done so much as a band by playing many great venues around Scotland. This is something which many bands still haven’t achieved. We’ve also had the pleasure of supporting some great established bands including Golden Silvers, Stone Gods, Viva Machine, Zoey Van Goey, Drive by Argument and El Dog.

In 2006 we won the XFM Radio Rock School playing alongside The Fratellis, The View, Biffy Clyro, Idlewild and Ocean Colour Scene

We recently completed a Scottish Tour which took in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Inverness and Glenrothes and in February we are supporting The Features at King Tuts April 21st.

We have just finished writing and demoing new material for a release later this year.

2010 is the year we are taking Acrylic Iqon to the next level and we just can’t wait to get there!!
