Bio

Singer/Guitarist Mike Capadais and Drummer Sumner Sherring played together for many years before forming Act on Impulse in 2007. Before that Mike was in the hospital for depression where he wrote the lyrics to songs "Act on Impulse" and "Nightmare". After almost being at the end of his life Mike found a different way of thinking after leaving the hospital. Having a huge influence in bands such as Staind, Deftones, Mudvayne, Smashing Pumpkins, Flaw, Jimi Hendrix, Chuck Berry and many other bands Mike wanted to find a way to express himself and try to help people that were in the same situation he was in. He wanted a new band, a new group of people where he expresses how he feels a positive way. The death metal bassist he once was in Teebag where he competed in Bodog battle of the bands, was no more. Even though online Teebag was ranked number 1st in votes in Boston overall and 8th in the nation for the preliminaries. Mike wanted a change. He then started jamming with Drummer Sumner Sherring and made several songs and then they decided to make a band after many years of making music. After having 4 songs finished including favorite River of Rain Mike searched for the bassist that would be the right piece for the band. After a short wait Mike found Max Walterman, a friend from school and ex-bassist from Intros Never Last to try out for the band. Having several bassists lined up to try out Mike was absolutely stunned by Max's playing capability so he was hired. His influences being Tool, Powerman 5000, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nonpoint, Max was a great addition to the mix. After Max was hired, Act on Impulse wrote another 5 songs including an unusual cover of the Halloween theme song. They also made a very dysfunctional piece called Echo which has a huge Staind and Deftones influence. Sumner being the backbone of the band at the skins was also a huge part of the writing process. Him being the "heavy side" of Act on Impulse as Mike would call it which includes influences such as All That Remains, Lamb of God, Unearth, 40 Below Summer, Mudvayne and many others. Sumner helps with his catchy drumbeats, fast double bass and technical fill ins that you don’t usually get from your Alternative drummer. He has also helped with the lyric process contributing with the song "Recovery" and many other pieces. Act on Impulse isn’t like any other local act you see on stage. They get right in your face with the heavy distorted guitars and bass to Mikes Shredding vocals. They also are very energetic when they play as they jump around and just have fun. When you listen to them live you will feel like you are one with their music. They make your time listening to them very energetic and very soothing at the same time. If you listen to them they wont let you down. This is their story...this is Act on Impulse.
