"Actress"

"Manchester, England, and Chattanooga have one thing in common: post-industrial
blight. That shared malaise might account for Actress, whose dead-on impression of
moody Manchester bands like Joy Division and Happy Mondays is striking. Of course,
there're plenty of groups riffing on the Mancunian sound and Actress wouldn't be
worth mentioning unless they added something to the mix. Songwriting is their
strong suit...quirky and inventive, and their lyrics are just as enigmatic as those
of their forebears." - Nashville Scene

"Reasons To Believe"

Each year, the staff music writers and editors of Creative Loafing/Weekly Planet in Atlanta, Charlotte, Sarasota and Tampa get together to discuss which local acts seem to be on the verge of kicking their careers up a few notches. Some are brand new; others have been kicking around for a while. But they all are deserving of a fresh look and listen. Here are our picks of some the best.

Actress. Though hailing from the country-loving town of Chattanooga, Tenn., Actress professes a love for keyboards unlike most bands since, well, those acts whom the group most closely resembles. Which bands, you ask? In lighter moments (of which there are few), Actress brings to mind the synth-heavy, Notorious-era style of Duran Duran; at darker times, the nihilistic, acerbic rock of New Order. Fronted by Aaron Ficchi (vocals, guitar) and aided by brother Josh Ficchi (drums, loops) Actress is proof positive that not everything from Tennessee is banjos and dirt roads.

"Famous Song Of The Day - ACTRESS - Dress It Up In Stereo"

"Actress (originally from Chattanooga) is a Hollywood based band comprised of brothers Aaron and Josh Ficchi. Their melodies along with their use of synthesizer and guitar remind you of a glam rock/new wave era that was popular in the 70’s & 80’s… but with an 09 feel. Not only do they have a great sound, they’re great songwriters. This is definitely a band you want to look out for." - Thank God I'm Famous

"Actress release new "Dress It Up In Stereo" EP"

"Hollywood duo Actress just released their Dress It Up In Stereo EP via RCRD LBL. The 4-track EP is yours for the taking, for free. Brother's Aaron and Josh Ficchi, have conjured up some musical delight here. A little bit new wave, a little bit rock n' roll, we can see these guys opening up for The Cars or Devo - Rad!"

"Exclusive New Download: Actress - Dress It Up In Stereo EP"

With a backstory that rivals the Kings Of Leon and a sound bred from David Bowie, T. Rex, and Depeche Mode obsessions, Hollywood duo Actress are the antidote to your waning faith in arena-sized dance-rock (seriously B-Flo, get rid of those wings). Born to a pair of "nomadic gospel singers," brothers Aaron and JoshFicchi formed the band in Chatanooga, TN before making the jump to L.A., an inarguably better base for a pair of guys making bombastic new wave. We've picked them up for our in-house digital label and are excited to be releasing their Dress It Up In Stereo EP today, four tracks of glitzy, ambitious hooks smeared with Casio sheen and anchored by a thankfully huge drum sound. Big drums are cool again! - RCRD_LBL

"Dress It Up In Stereo"

Actress' peppy brand of indie rock can best be described as a glam brew of rock and electro. The Los Angeles duo is compromised of brothers Aaron (vocals, guitar, synths) and Josh Ficchi (drums, loops/samples) who are originally from Chattanooga, TN. Check out a totally guilt-free download of the title track from their new EP that shows how the the group combines racing guitar licks with a glitzy synth riff. Promising new band. Think Young Love with a little more crunch and a little less pop. - Arjan Writes

"Actress To Perform at Desdemona Festival"

"Unless you had their bio right in front of you, you'd never peg impressive Actress
as being from anywhere other than the U.K. And you'd have to be cheating to guess
they're from Tennessee (Chattanooga, to be exact). The band's music has the
stylized swagger of the BritPop biggies, sounding like a blend of Muse and Suede,
with a little dance-floor verve bubbling underneath for good measure...if they are
not already signed, with a sound this accomplished and charismatic it should only
be a matter of time before you find 'em at your favorite record store." - Cincinnati Beat
