"Album Review, Blue"

Ada displays her songwriting prowess in this, her debut solo album. The music is understated yet elegant, it's comfortable, and the hooks are deep into you before you realize that you've been caught. There are songs about romance, and friendships that last a lifetime. Ada shares a bit of her life with you.
Wrap that comfortable blanket around your shoulders, curl up in that favorite chair, and spend an afternoon getting to know Ada.

"Album Review, Blue"

Ada Piercey-Jenkins is not your typical blues rocker... The album is laden with great guitar work, and Jenkins has a rich voice... Blue is an album that blues fans will enjoy, and further proof that rural Newfoundland can showcase more than jigs and reels.

Bio

From Twillingate, Newfoundland emerges a dynamic singer/songwriter destined to be marked as one of the island's finest musical artists. With a compilation of over seventy songs and a striking, haunting voice, Ada Piercey Jenkins is being noticed. This is evident in her recent nomination for an ECMA award for Blues Recording of the Year, 2006.

Described by a recent concertgoer as "a musical massage", Ada's songs reflect strong character, warmth and charm, mixed with down-to-earth honesty and stark reality. Ada's strong sense of humor threads through, popping up to surprise and delight. Hope and joy of life are never too far away.

Ada and her songs are appealing to listeners of all ages, notably since this distinctive style is subtly blended with classic elements of Rock and Roll. Ada's extensive musical experience as a member of the well-known group, The Split Peas, has been instrumental in boosting her present rising stardom. Her many years as sole songwriter for the group has laid the foundation for her emergence as a unique and professional solo artist.

On the 17th of May, 2006, Ada took another big step in her career when she was accepted as an Artist Associate with World Vision. The Artist Associate Program was started in 1990 by World Vision to partner with people who had music ministries. At their performances, the artists asked concertgoers to make a difference by sponsoring a child. World Vision provided display materials about child sponsorship at the performance venue so audience members could become child sponsors. The first year 12 artists worked with World Vision to sponsor approximately 2,500 children. Since then, The Artist Associate program has seen amazing growth. The goal this year is to sponsor 75,000 children through more than 200 artists! By joining the Artist Associate Program, Ada is joining a group that includes: Avalon, Bono, Brian Adams, Brooke Fraser, Casting Crowns, Edwin Derricutt, Irene Bridger, Joy Williams, Kirk Franklin, Margaret Becker, Nathan King, Out of Eden, Salvador, Steven Curtis Chapman, Todd Agnew, and Twila Paris.

Ada Blue, Ada's first solo album, oozes with musical passion and personal experience. Peppered with phrases that suddenly appear in your thoughts days later, songs like Driftin' and Here Comes The Rain demonstrate Ada's ability to capture life's experiences and so finely put them to music. Her Blues/Jazzy style further enhances these powerful lyrics.

Her follow-up album, Slight Chance Of Rain, confirms her standing as one of Newfoundland's pre-eminent songwriters. The songs range from the uplifting A Little Rain Must Fall, and the engaging Menopausal Blues, to the longing of Come Sail Away. Luminous and entrancing, Ada’s voice draws you in, you’re caught, transported, but you don't mind, and you like where you are.

A voice like spun silver, an exquisite songwriting style, an artist in the truest sense of the word, Ada Jenkins is a consummate singer/songwriter. Relax with Ada in the quiet of the evening
