Adam Graybeal’s Hillbilly Soul Bristol based musician Adam Graybeal made his debut in the local tri-cities music scene in 1998 at the young age of 14 on the stage of “The Down Home” in Johnson City TN during the Little Chicago Blues Festival. An active musician in this area since that original performance, Graybeal left the area in 2002 to travel the sea as an entertainer for Carnival Cruise Lines. Traveling and performing with both jazz ensembles and big band orchestras throughout the Eastern and Western Caribbean Sea. After returning back to the mountains of Appalachia he rejoined The Nomadz Band along with many other local and regional artists including most recently The Catfish Frye Band until the forming of Adam Graybeal’s Hillbilly Soul at the end of 2016. Since that time the band has been featured on numerious radio and television programs like Studio One NPR 89.5 WETS FM, WDVX Blue Plate Special Knoxville Tn. Drawing from the sounds of Appalachia and being the area’s only band with a full horn section landed AGHS two headline show at the 2017 Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion. AGHS will be featured in a book by Executive Editor of the Washington Post Author David Rowell, the band will also be part of a PBS music documentary that will air mid 2018.AHGS draws on influences from the sounds of New Grass Revival, John Cowan, Jeff Healey, Eric Clapton, Albert Collins, Freddy King, Stevie Ray Vaughn, B.B. King, Darrell Scott, and many more. With this multi-genre inspiration, Graybeal has created a blending of bluegrass and blues to create a unique blues/mountain-grass sound that has been described as “blue-eyed mountain soul”.
