"KATZ TO RAP TOUR"

JUST EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED

RANDWICK pop singer Adam Katz will wrap up his east coast tour in Sydney on Saturday, before taking his music to the United Kingdom.

The tour, on the back of his debut single, Stars, concludes at The Basement on August 10 and Katz is promising fans can expect the unexpected.

The solo artist likes to experiment on-stage with audience interaction and by mixing different genres of music.

‘‘I free-style rap,’’ he said. ‘‘I rhyme about what I see in front of me and people get very endeared by that because it’s interesting, it’s improvised.

‘‘It’s going to be very big and exciting, the biggest and most theatrical that I’ve done.

‘‘I’ve got my seven-piece band behind me, and I probably shouldn’t give this away but there will be secret and special attachments – of those there will be a tap dancer."

Katz is set to work with British music producer Cutmore ( Maroon 5, Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey) on material for an album, which he is hoping to release early next year. See him at The Basement on Saturday. Tickets $20. – By Cassandra Briedis - Southern Courier

"Kool For Katz"

Central Station Records has announced the signing and the forthcoming single release from Sydney performer Adam Katz.
A regular on the club scene in the harbour city, Adam has cut his performance teeth in support of some of the best in the business in recent years including Lloyd, Akon, Pitbull and Kelly Rowland (the latter trio on the Supafest stage).
But now it's his time to shine in his own right with his debut single 'Stars'. Produced by Cutmore, who's also worked with Maroon 5, Beyoncé and Christina Aguilera, the track is a stomping three and a half minute dance/pop tune that has complete commercial appeal.
To celebrate its release, Adam will perform a launch show at The Beresford in Sydney tomorrow night. He'll later perform dates across the East Coast in support of 'Stars', which is set to drop at retail on Friday June 14.

"Five Coffees & Adam Katz @ The Basement"

Adam Katz, who we caught at The Enmore last week supporting Lloyd, now brought the party to The Basement with his very hot and talented band. Adam is yet to release his first recordings , but for now you can have a listen via his website. He put on a fantastic show and I really enjoyed seeing him with a full band.

After releasing their debut EP “Flatline” late last year at the Basement, Sydney’s funk-jazz-soul-hiphop combo Five Coffees returned to bring their unique blend of jazz and hiphip to the party. With a ripping horn section, MC Nick, female vocalist Ayla and a phenomenal rhythm section the audience at The Basement was in for a treat. These guys are über-cool and will bring a smile to your face and make your hips want to move. - The Orange Press

"Lloyd and Adam Katz @ The Enmore"

Adam Katz’s music is probably best described as a high energy fusion between Pop and R&B with strong hip-hop elements. He now had the fantastic opportunity to support RnB singer Lloyd at The Enmore Theatre. Adam has certainly been constantly raising his profile in and around Sydney, but the world is his oyster. His tunes are so catchy, his live show is packed with tons of energy and positive vibes and he simply delivers an outstanding performance. I can already hear some of his songs, like “Stars”, on constant rotation on radio and in clubs all over the place. Stay tuned for more from his latest gig at The Basement supporting jazz-hiphop-soul combo Five Coffees.

LLoyd took to the stage more than over an hour late and when he finally arrived, his show seemed a bit short of excitement. There is no denying that Lloyd has lots of talent. His previous albums ranked high in the US R&B/Hip-Hop albums charts and also his latest album “King Of Hearts” is getting a lot radio play. The live performance did unfortunately not quite deliver, but the audience still loved and embraced him. - The Orange Press

"Adam Katz gets the call"

UNTIL you’ve heard Adam Katz- you haven’t heard the true meaning of talent.

It came as no surprise when the Double-Bay musician was approached to support one of his favourite RnB singers, Lloyd, at The Enmore Theatre tonight.

The best part - he got the call the day before his birthday.

``It was the best present ever, to finally put Adam Katz out there,’’ Katz said.

``For the first time I have the opportunity to come out solo, put out my big stage show and do my original music.’‘

He’s spent years raising his profile on YouTube and gigging around the inner west/city but this is the first time the pop/RnB/hip-hop singer has supported an artist of this calibre.

``I’ve been a Lloyd fan for about seven years and to be honest I’m probably one of the closest things Australia has to his style of music.’‘

Katz jokingly said: ``I’d love it if he saw the show and said `Hey man, I love what you do’ and I’d say the same then we make a bromantic track together.’‘

It’s only a matter of time that a record label snaps him up and it may be in April when he heads to Hollywood for MUSEXPO, the international music and media conference.

``You’ve got all these artists dominating the charts like Neyo and Enrique who have catchy hooks but not a whole lot of melody to them… but what I’‘m doing is creating music that’s a bit more timeless, there’s more to it lyrically and mainly melodically.’‘

Katz, who is also part of the band The Next Step, will have backing vocals including Flip Simmons and will be supported by tap and hip hop dancers on stage.

"Best Present Ever for Double Bay Singer Adam Katz"

AFTER years spent gigging and raising his profile on YouTube, Double Bay singer Adam Katz is poised for his big break, supporting one of his favourite R’n'B singers, Lloyd, at the Enmore Theatre tonight.

The best part: he got the call the day before his birthday.

“It was the best present ever, to finally put Adam Katz out there,” Katz said.

“For the first time I have the opportunity to come out solo, put out my big stage show and do my original music.”

This is the first time the pop/R’n'B/hip-hop singer has supported such a high-profile artist.

“I’ve been a Lloyd fan for about seven years and to be honest I’m probably one of the closest things Australia has to his style of music.

“I’d love it if he saw the show and said ‘Hey man, I love what you do’ and I’d say the same, then we’d make a bromantic track together.” - Wentworth Courier

"Adam Katz (Gig) Review"

'fantastic moments of breakaway 'freestyling', the audience was wide eyed waiting to see if they'd be targeted in Adam Katz's quick thinking improvisation'

'a voice that sits comfortably next to usher, justin timberlake and brian mcknight'

'Adam's melodic songwriting is still very catchy, and a breathe of fresh air from the generic pop stars of today'

Bio

When you witness Adam Katz on stage, you dont simply hear him; you become engaged and involved; and when youre talking about his melodic fusion of pop, R&B and hip-hop, its something altogether more authentic than the manufactured hits weve come to expect from the charts. Adam Katz is the real deal.

Katz grassroots success is evident in his already impressive history on stage, both as a solo artist as well as lead vocalist for 'The Next Step' collective. Hes a regular at Sydney hotspots like The Basement, The Beresford and The IVY, has performed several times at the seminal Splendour in the Grass Festival, and on the other end of the spectrum, supported the likes of R&B sensation Lloyd, as well as Akon, Pitbull and Kelly Rowland on the urban Supafest lineup.

The reason for Katz bubbling success is clear his engaging live charisma, where hes just as comfortable fronting his 8-piece band, delivering a smooth pop melody or throwing down an improvised rap or freestyle. Hes celebrated for being able to break away from his routine at any moment, riffing spontaneously on whats going on around him in the crowd.

However, its the standard of the songs that will take Katz to the next level. His anthems like Stars and Adore Ya are propelled into the pop stratosphere by his heartfelt melodies, with an emphasis on the sweet, the passionate and the catchy. Channeling the integrity and honesty of timeless artists like Michael Jackson; theyre full of stories about dreams, life, love and dragons.

In June 2013, Katz released his debut single Stars through Central Station Records/Universal Music, which achieved incredible success with national rotation on 2dayFM, Nova, and MTV. Adam also completed an 8 date, East Coast tour of the single, to very favourable reviews.

Katz recently returned from a writing and promotional trip to the UK, where he recorded with 'Stars' producer CUTMORE (Maroon 5, Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey), Esmee Denters (Justin Timberlake), The White N3RD (Jessie J, Loick Essien) and many other revered writers, as well as performing shows at several major bars and clubs all around the UK.

Capping off an already thrilling year, in November Katz received the MusicOz Award for Pop Artist of the Year, and also toured nationally with The Jeans for Genes Charity, performing free concerts as a prize for the most creative fundraising schools in Australia.

He is currently readying his debut album, but in the meantime, hes extending an invite to come and check out one of his regular Sydney gigs. Katz says, "If you come and see me perform, I promise to dedicate an entire minute to freestyle about it!"
