"Mp3 | Adam & Alma - “Smile For Me, Sun”"

This Swedish female-male duo won't show us Statesiders their faces (except in cartoon form), which seems to be a trend (ahem, jj, until a few months ago), but the music speaks for itself: sad, airy piano ballads tinged with delicate beats and synths dropped in later ("Back to the Sea") and soothing, flute-y electronica tracks like this one, which feels like a subtle nod to Aphex Twin, but which Alma wraps in a pretty vocal melody and vocal loops whispering in the background to make it her (and Adam's) own. - Liz Colville

"The family and Adam & Alma!"

"...With roots in jazz, but also with strong bonds to both American indie pop and the swedish indie electro, the singer Ellen Arkbro and the pianist Johan Graden/.../ started experimenting with the surface between the sensitive jazz and the cool electronics. The result is floating, dreamy and classic Scandinavian - and without compromising on the depth...." - Sara Martinsson, Swedish Radio

Bio

Adam & Alma formed in 2009 while members Ellen Arkbro and Johan Graden where still in high school. With a wide range of influences their music had a unique sound blending electronic and acoustic pop music together. In 2010 they released their debut EP "Back to The Sea", through the Swedish netlabel "23 Seconds". The group quickly got attention from the media, and a wider recognition in Sweden and in Europe. Since then Adam & Alma has performed and toured both in Europe and in the US.
