"Adamantra Live Review"

Live: Adamantra

First band on stage was ADAMANTRA, who are about to release their debut album "Revival" on SoundOfFinland label in May 2009. After being behind the closed doors of the studio for a long time, the band seemed to be really enjoying playing live. Especially vocalist Tuomas Nieminen seemed to be having a blast, getting carried away by the music. The band sounded very professional, although the sound wasn't the best, especially the guitar and the keys were a bit low in the mix every now and then.

Adamantra's song material isn't too easy to digest at first listen, although they can write more accessible material too, as the new single "In Triumph" proves. There were a couple of other more "easier" tracks in the set too, and the Yngwie cover "I'll See The Light Tonight" was a good breather between the more "proggy" numbers. Admittedly, some of them were a bit too tricky for my simple taste, but to each their own... They seemed to be appreciated by the prog fans in the audience. I'm looking forward to hearing the album anyway. - www.rockunited.com

"Revival -album review"

Adamantra characterizes their music as skillfull prog metal.

The band focuses on songs, as in progressive music should be done. Yet, the band is quite easy to compare to the American champion Symphony X.
Revival's song material is very steady.

Lyrically disk moves very melancholic mood, in dark waters. I did not concentrate on listening to the lyrics but the band's musical output, which can be assessed very rewarding.

7 / 10

Bio

Adamantra is now leading the way of new generation phenomenon and this most surely does not surprise a listener overwhelmed with astonishment when paddling through the powerful scenes of misery and despair, the beautiful sonic landscapes and glimpses of historical themes. The songs have started to evolve around the mutual understanding of what is the very essence of Adamantra ? companionship, trust and brotherhood. These comrades have a common interest of incanting unspoken and forgotten atmospheric melodies and tales of old.

Revival is the name of the debut album and gives first impressions of the warcry to be cast onto the centroids of melodic prog metal universe.
