"The Red Album"

Local bluesman Adam Hole lets rip with some high energy, raunchy slide guitar on his latest offering from the band he leads with Marji Curran.
The "Red Album" is stomping, dirty blues that keeps on giving while it crosses genres into rock and metal and back again. Hole plays like a wild man on this CD, but never misses a beat, never drops a note and never fails rhythmically. His slide, lap steel, acoustic and electric guitar playing are all powerful, matched by Curran's soaring voice and racing acoustic guitar.
The songs are gutsy and stimulating and they wont fail to get listeners moving. Drummer Phoebe Juskevics helps with all sorts of experimental beats, using everything from jerrycans to chinese gongs to keep the pace going. The album is a mix of original songs and clever arrangements of some old blues classics, to the point where they are barely recognisable as having emerged from the Mississipi Delta. Its Robert Johnson, meets Jimi Hendrix, meets Slash - who together have run off with Janis Joplin and Courtney Love.
When listening to this CD, you cant wait to see the band live. - Chris Johnson - Canberra Times
