Stars glow with praise at
the ‘dawn’ of new talent.

Entertainment heavyweights and industry stars are coming out of the woodwork with glowing praise and accolades in support of rising country music star Adam James and his new album – Children of the Sunrise – which launches on the 9th June in Sydney.

Media personalities Ray Martin, Jeff McMullen, country star Felicity Urquhart and a host of domestic and international publications are raving about James’s talent, which is perfectly showcased on the new album, according to McMullen who is also hosting the launch at Sydney’s Yaama Diyhaan in Darlington.

“Adam’s a ‘star’ in every sense of the word, and he brings with him what all truly successful artists have –innovation; take his title track, Children of the Sunrise, there is so much freshness and heart in his writing, and it creates a new space in country music.

“He is a countryman with such a strong sense of place and such a huge love of family.

“This [album] may redefine the genre,” said McMullen.

Renowned TV journalist and host, Ray Martin, powerfully echoed McMullen’s sentiments when asked to categorise James’s ability and potential.

"I grew up listening to country music - both in Australia and America, where I worked for a decade, and for many years 'The Midday Show' put me in the studio with new exciting country talent - from Keith Urban to Lee Kernighan and Troy Cassar-Daley.

“I think Adam James has the good looks 'n' personality, the musical potential and the passion to match any of those stars,” Martin said.

Country star in her own right, Felicity Urquhart, was another to rally behind James’s new album and lead single release, “Freedom Now Begins,” on her ABC National radio program “Saturday Night Country.”

"Adam James is the whole package; his passion for music and community are rare in such a young artist; his striking presence makes Adam stand out from the new breed of country artists; he knows what he believes and delivers with unwavering conviction.

“This album will introduce a new audience to this young artist,” said Urquhart.

In addition, James collected accolades on his May tour of Europe and North America where he played a limited number of performances to showcase the hit songs from the album.

Bio

Adam James is the currently the youngest established Indigenous male country music singer in Australia. He is a prolific song writer with an enthusiasm for making music that transcends genres but he is primarily positioned in the alternative country scene.

His honesty and integrity make him sought out by organisations and corporations looking to partner with a well-respected musician like Adam. His involvement in a project is seen as brand-strengthening. Adam’s contemporary country music is passionate, full of meaning and showcases his joy of life and humanity. His on-stage presence engages an audience and he has a strong following of loyal fans that are prepared to travel to hear him. He delivers to his audience a power-packed performance and narrative that takes them on a journey of nostalgia, enlightenment or joy, depending on the set and song choice.

His music is imprinted with the environment he grew up in from the north coast of NSW to Moreton Bay in Qld and his Stradbroke Island heritage, his passions and life experiences.

Adam is a strong, proud Noonuccal/Goempul man from the Stradbroke Island region in South-East Queensland. His current music features strong, powerful, vibrant and fresh tunes that blend a meld of contemporary alt country with unique folk-rock.

With two full studio albums under his belt in three years and a relentless pursuit of writing, Adam James is a popular songster touring his music around the country.

Adam cites his most impressive gig so far as performing in front of 40,000 people at Parliament House Lawns in Canberra, ACT in January 2011. This event and Adam’s performance was broadcast to an audience of 4 million across Australia and an unknown audience across South East Asia (Australia Network on cable) - Australia Day Concert.

Adam shared this headliner with Ross Wilson (Daddy Cool) [Warner], Gangagang [Inde], Jessica Mauboy (Australian Idol Winner) [Sony/BMG], Stan Walker (Australian Idol Winner) [Sony/BMG], Thirsty Merc (ARIA Winners) [Warner], The McClymonts (CMAA Golden Guitar and ARIA Winners) [Universal] and The Wiggles [ABC].

Children of the Sunrise (Adam’s current single) was chosen as an anthem for Indigenous Australia specifically for this concert. Subsequently, Ian Thorpe - Australia's Gold Medal Olympic Champion swimmer - has chosen Adam's song as
the anthem for his foundation – Fountain for Youth. The Fountain for Youth focuses on advocacy for the needs of children living in great disadvantage in an attempt to close the health gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.
