Adam Joseph knows his face and his voice don’t go together. He’s a white boy who looks like he’d be more comfortable in a boy band than churning out tracks that sound like they came from the love child of Ben Harper and Erykah Badu. The contrast has given audiences momentary pause, but that hasn’t stopped him from writing, singing and self-producing “How I Seem to Be”, his neo-soul album.

Bio

The strength of Adam is, first of all, his talent combined with his musical knowledge. He’s able to sing like a bad bad boy, and knows what he’s doing, tastefully. Second of all, his age. Indeed on top of his 22 years, Adam shows enough savoir faire to write, perform, produce, and record the entirety of his album. His diverse background (hip hop + musicals + reggae + jazz + soul) and unexpected personality feed into his unique sense of style and musicianship.
Like most renowned musicians, Adam began singing in church at and early age. He successfully started a professional career at age 10, touring nationwide with musicals (such as “Oliver“) and recording as a featured soloist with the Cincinnati POPS. While attending the School for Creative and Performing Arts, Adam discovered his true passion for writing and gradually developed his own sound.
Since it looked like Adam was definitely destined to become a full time musician, he chose to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where all of his aspirations solidified. His original band A.K.A., which has since become “The Elegant Children”, was formed. They performed around the East Coast of the U.S. to a constantly growing audience. The response to his music encouraged the making of his debut album.
Unwilling to compromise his original sound, Adam Joseph took all aspects of his creation into his own hands. A smart blend of soul and pop, catchy hooks and deep heartfelt lyrics, this first opus is a real journey through a young artist’s mind and soul.
