Bio

Adam Kathman, a solo artist from the Great Lakes region, crafts a mix of topical folk, traditional blues, and modern country into a sophisticated style that edifies today’s most popular genres.
A one-man band of sorts Kathman draws on influences ranging from early blues and folk to modern musicians such as Louden Wainright III and Wilco. Through his music, Kathman pays homage to a time in American history when people of all races, creeds, and genders were united. Seeking to encourage the same sense of solidarity for his listeners he addresses contemporary societal issues, politics, metaphysics and encourages social awareness. “People are terrorized by intrusions to their mind every day, whether it’s music or media or what-have-you. I feel that people have a want & desire for simple, stripped down lyrics and melody that reflect the tonality of their inner dialogue.”
One of his most popular songs “Big Blue Meanie”, a folk tribute to the nuisance of big box stores, employs an upbeat tempo and clever lyrics that grabs the attention of his listeners.
Kathman's undeniable singing style and unique guitar picking and harmonica blowing make his preformances dynamic and unforgettable.
Having just finished an open mic tour that has taken him from New York City to Los Angeles, Kathman now lives in Portland, OR.
