Bio
The "Adam Koopmans Group" is the project name for the improvisational band led by guitarist/composer Adam Koopmans. The project started in Boston during Adam's time at the Berklee College Of Music '03-'06, and took a hiatus, during which time, he joined another improvisational band, Centrifuge, for '07.
Adam is now playing material he wrote at Berklee; for Centrifuge; as well as new originals and arrangements. He has performed with students/graduates from the Berklee College of Music, Mohawk College, and Humber College. The group lineup rotates regularly creating a spontaneous, improvised, and fresh vibe to the music each time.
The goal of the project is to explore contemporary live improvisation with no defined boundaries. Stylistic elements from Jazz, Funk, Rock, Blues, R&B, etc are used as the vehicle for exploration.
