Bio

Currently, Adam Johnson is fronting Red Rooster Revue, a Southern soul and blues outfit based in San Marcos that was named 'Best Local Band' in the February 1st issue of the San Marcos Daily Record, highlighting the 'Best of San Marcos' in 2009. Usually featuring Justin Murray of Devil's Hollow on second lead guitar, Red Rooster Revue blends elements of Chicago blues, Joe Cocker-esque soul, and a Southern groove hailing memories of the Band or Little Feat. Adam is also currently performing solo acoustic sets (and occasional acoustic duos with Austin musicians such as George Rarey and Cid Sanchez) as well as the Adam Johnson Trio, a blues-trio featuring Mark Henne and Morgan Patrick Thompson, rhythm section to nationally acclaimed folk/variety group the Asylum Street Spankers.

Johnson previously fronted Kings, Queens, & Lovers (formerly the All-In Blues Band), a teenage blues-trio that tore up central Texas from 2007-2009, headlining the Waco Cultural Arts Festival, playing a half-dozen times at legendary Gruene Hall in 2009, performing a showcase at Antone's for the Austin Blues Society, and semi-finaled at the Heart of Texas Blues Challenge in Austin. Johnson has recorded a 60-minute set for the PBS television program "Texas Music Cafe" set to air on PBS affiliates in Texas and other states in spring 2010. Bands he has fronted have opened for notable state-wide acts such as Del Castillo, Doyle Bramhall, and Terri Hendrix and Lloyd Maines.

On February 1st, 2010, Adam Johnson's Red Rooster Revue was named by the local newspaper, the San Marcos Daily-Record, as the best local band in their 'Best of San Marcos' section, a newspaper serving San Marcos' population of 50,000+, including Texas State University.
