GOT THE DIRTY OLD BLUES
Friday Feb 9 2007
cover story
"ROBERT Johnson meets Rory Gallagher then Shane Macgowan comes in and throws up all over everyone."
Not the way you hear people describe music everyday, but the sound is easy to imagine and its a pretty plausible scene - except for the fact that the first two blokes are dead and the third's doing his best to be.
"I guess you could call it Celtic blues," Adam Ryan continues.
"Its mainly acoustic, I world with a lot of slide, open tunings...and I do a bit of slide mandolin."
The new Darwinian will be letting his sound out of the bag at Darwin's Ski Club tonight.
"Its a blues feel with sort of Celtic melodies over the top," Ryan said.
"(And) when I hit the guitar I can get a drum sound ... I put that through a drum machine<jamman loop machine>, so in some songs I get a bit of a drum loop happening."
