Adam Shell

BandRockSinger/Songwriter

Adam Shell is for all those who miss the old school rock of the 70's & 80's. If your looking for good music you can dance to, and fall in love to, Adam is an exceptional piano player and singer, melding an array of styles from rock, swing and funk pioneering a new sound that is truly unique.

Biography

Adam began playing the piano at age four. After several arduous years of learning scales and jumping exercise songs Adam quickly gave up on it in favor of riding bikes and playing with friends. Only a few years later after hearing the exciting sounds of Elton John and Billy Joel on the piano Adam was determined to learn how to play music as they do. With guidance from his uncle, an accomplished Jazz pianist Adam began to teach himself to play. Based on little theoretical knowledge Adam taught himself how to play and sing a wide variety of popular tunes eventually graduating to his childhood goal Elton John’s “Funeral for a Friend.” Adam quickly began writing tunes and melodies expressing himself though his songs. After several years as an assistant composer for which he was honored by the Day Time Emmy Awards, Adam obtained a brief musical education at UCLA eventually opting to study music history rather than music theory. Adam started several bands during his aggregate years including “The Idiots” and discovered he was far better off doing it alone. Drawing from his library of songs he teamed up with Producer Roberto Brandon and ventured to South America to record his debut solo album Vacant Room. Adam’s musical and songwriting talents made fast waves through the music community in Argentina where Adam was blessed to record with many of the most talented musicians including Argentinean legends Alejandro Lerner, Juanse Gutierrez (Ratones Paranoicos), Gabby Carambula, Guillermo Vadala and Jota Morelli. Adam’s passion for the art of songwriting is at the forefront of everything that has made up this album bringing back the art of songwriting into modern music. Adam’s motto that no matter what you do to a bad song it is always a bad song carries though in every detail of his work, which is why for this 15 song album Adam began with a selection of over 30 songs eventually recording 22.

Lyrics

Wait For You

Written By: Adam Shell

I hold your hand
Though I’m curled up in your body
I only see what my eyes can see

I walk alone
Without knowing where we stand
Two hearts that beat
Will they ever meet?

And all this time
I wait for you to find
But still I walk this line
How long can I keep on trying
So do I wait for you or go

I hold on tight
To a dream that keeps on living
As long as I imagine it to be my world
Where this dream it keeps on living
As long as I keep on dreaming this dream

And all this time
I wait for you to find
But still I walk this line
How long can I keep on trying
So do I wait for you or go

Better Things

Written By: Adam Shell

Hey, I’ve looked to you
I’ve looked up all my life
You showed me how to play the game,
Before I knew it was being played
You taught me how to own them,
With nothing good to say

Hey, you take everything you want
And never have to pay

You were all I wished I could be
But times like me have changed

So go tear the world apart
I don’t need you anymore
I’ve got better things, better things
So when you’ve gone too far
I can’t be here when you fall
I’ve got better things, better things
You’re dragging me down
You can drag me around no more

I’ve heard everyone talk about you
You should hear the things they say
At first I didn’t believe them
But the more I heard they sounded true
It was you and me against the world
But now it’s me and them verse you

You were all I wished I could be
But times like me have changed

So go tear the world apart
I don’t need you anymore
I’ve got better things, better things
So when you’ve gone too far
I can’t be here when you fall
I’ve got better things, better things
You’re dragging me down
You can drag me around no more

Save Me

Written By: Adam Shell

I take a look around I see a million miles ahead of me
And I don’t know which road to travel down

I take a look behind I see a million miles have come and gone
And somehow I am trapped here in this town

I try so hard so I don’t’ fall
I try so hard I only crawl
May I need to try a little more

Save me
Cause I can’t save my own
Tell me
That I’m where I belong

Funny though it seems I want the worst what I cannot have
Though I never wanted it before
There’s something about the heart and mind,
They don’t see eye to eye
I can’t get them to agree how hard I try

And still I carry on to learn that all I wants in front of me
I can’t keep walking through this life so blind

Save me
Cause I can’t save my own
Tell me
That I’m where I belong

Stay

Written By: Adam Shell

Hey don’t you tell me that you think it’s over
Just because you can’t walk the line
You can’t go down that easy
Cause your shit ain’t over till it’s your time

You may think you should throw your cards
Till that queen she comes your way
And if you’re waiting for that queen
You may never wake to see another smiling day

But I can’t tell you not to run away
And I can’t tell you to go on one more day
But I know what’s on your mind
And I’m here to help you find
That something somewhere that makes you want to stay

Do you remember the day when you were a kid
And life was just one little game
Mommy and daddy they took care of things
And every day was the same

Well now you’re a little bit older
And mommy and daddy are gone
And you think that you somehow have gone wrong

But I can’t tell you not to run away
And I can’t tell you to go on one more day
But I know what’s on your mind
And I’m here to help you find
That something somewhere that makes you want to stay

Solo

But I can’t tell you not to run away
And I can’t tell you to go on one more day
But I know what’s on your mind
And I’m here to help you find
That something somewhere that makes you want to stay

Aint Gonnna Be My lover

Written By: Adam Shell

You turn my world upside down
Everything is so crazy when you’re around
You’ve got your clothes
You’ve got your shoes
You’ve got your hair
But when I want to talk to you
There’s never anyone there

You’ve taken me places that I might have never been
But in all these places there’s so much you just don’t see
I try to show you but we always disagree
So this I tell you here my friend
You aint gonna be my lover

You take me to the parties
Where you’re always such the rage
Everybody seems to know you
Like your on the front page
You talk to everyone
You smile and strut around
But I guess I just don’t realize that’s how it works here in this town

You’ve taken me places that I might have never been
But in all these places there’s so much you just don’t see
I try to show you but we always disagree
So this I tell you here my friend
You aint gonna be my lover

Strawberry Alice

Written By: Adam Shell

Verse 1

So you think it’s easy
To go at life so blind

The problem is
You don’t know what you see

But then again what you see
Could be a bit more kind

Is it wrong, yes or no
Or do you still disagree

Follow the rabbit
He’ll lead you on

You say you know when it’s a dream
But did you know you were just 10 inches tall

Is it still so hard to be someone at all

So can you tell what is real
Apart from what you see

I don’t know
But I think I disagree

Follow the rabbit
Down, Down, Down, Down

Chorus

It’s just like
Strawberry Alice
Wandering through the fields
It’s just like
Strawberry Alice
Wondering what is real
Strawberry Alice

Verse 2
So are you feeling guilty
Do you think it’s in the cards

Is this whole adventure
Worth your head

Maybe your just dreaming
And you didn’t know at all

Are you sure you really took that fall

Follow the rabbit
Down, Down, Down, Down

Chorus

It’s just like
Strawberry Alice
Wandering through the fields
It’s just like
Strawberry Alice
Wondering what is real
Strawberry Alice

Worth Fighting For

Written By: Adam Shell

I had a dream last night
And I don’t know why I did
But I dreamed that you were here
Talking in ad lib

About equality
And how we all should get along
And one thing that’s clear is that
No one here is wrong

And in my dream last night
I couldn’t help but shed a tear
As the world around us crumbles
A world that’s all destroyed by fear

So I say to you my friend
If you believe in what you preach
Then the best place you can start
Is right within your reach
You may talk a million miles
Maybe walk a million more
But if you can’t live in the world your building
Than what’s it all worth fighting for.

I had a dream last night
And I don’t know what I said
But when I woke up this morning
This song rang in my head

There’s one thing I know
And that’s there is so much I don’t know
But if I don’t open up my eyes
How am I ever gonna grow

So I say to you my friend
If you believe in what you preach
Then the best place you can start
Is right within your reach
You may talk a million miles
Maybe walk a million more
But if you can’t live in the world your building
Than what’s it all worth fighting for.

Somehow some people they believe
That they don’t need anyone and they don’t need anything
But how have we come to be so strong
If we didn’t feed each other
If we didn’t get along

So I say to you my friend
If you believe in what you preach
Then the best place you can start
Is right within your reach
You may talk a million miles
Maybe walk a million more
But if you can’t live in the world your building
Than what’s it all worth fighting for?
