"I've served in Student Ministry for nearly 20 years, and the authenticity of the music and ministry of Adam Wheatley is unmatched. I've never met anyone more talented yet more humble. His music is smart, creative, soulful and thought-provoking, and it speaks straight to my heart. The beauty of Adam Wheatley is that his music relates to people of all ages. When he came to our church, 17 year olds and 70 year olds all loved him. His style and adaptability make him the perfect choice for retreats, worship or concert settings. I can't wait to have him back."

Student Ministry Leader, Chillicothe UMC

The story:
The beginning of Adam Wheatley's music ministry was unexpected, to say the least. Working as a youth ministry intern while in college, Adam was asked to lead his students in worship one Sunday night. Although Adam had very limited experience with “praise and worship” music, he would soon understand the power with which God could work through this style of music and would embrace it fully. Though he would continue working in youth ministry for years after this experience, it was clear that music was the way that Adam could best serve the Church - both locally and globally.

In the summer of 2003 Adam moved to Collierville, TN, just outside of Memphis. There he worked in the youth ministry before eventually moving into the position of worship leader for his church. It was during these years that Adam would grow in his sense of leading God's people into His presence through worship as well as writing his own songs as a response to his own journey through faith and life.

Adam also soon discovered songwriters such as Andrew Peterson, Derek Webb, and Andrew Osenga - artists who wrote about their belief in Christ and their convictions, even if it wasn't always pretty. It was then that Adam began to write songs of his own. Not only "worship" songs, but songs about God and life, and how the two are intermingled. "I knew that God was bigger than what I was hearing on the radio", says Adam, "that He was also present through love and heartbreak, victories and tragedies, and the chaos and confusion of everyday life." These songs eventually became his 2007 debut release "Bring the Morning, Bring the Sun", an album written around the theme of God's forgiving grace.

After touring throughout the southeast, Adam moved to Nashville, TN in the fall of 2008 to serve as the worship leader for a new church plant, and to give greater focus to his music ministry. He soon became friends with many of his musical role models including Andrew Osenga (Caedmon's Call, The Normals) who would then engineer and produce Adam's second record, a 6 song EP titled "Moon Turns Red" released in 2009. A third record, "Beauty In the Breaking Down", is due out in the Spring of 2011.

Adam has been blessed to to share the stage with incredible artists, authors, and speakers such as Brandon Heath, Andrew Peterson, Andrew Osenga (Caedmon's Call), Michael Boggs (FFH), and Shane Claiborne.

Today, the songwriting never ends—especially as he continues to lead worship and perform songs about the spiritual lessons God teaches him along the way. "Each song I write serves as a reminder of his love and the promises He gives us, whether it's through His provision or presence. The way that plays out in our lives is simple—we love Him back and we love others."

Adam's ministry is designed as both a concert and a teaching time, as he introduces each song by sharing the lessons that he has been taught (and is being taught) on his journey with God. The emphasis of his ministry is inspired by 1 John 3:18, challenging students to let "love speak louder" through their hands and feet, by being the body of Christ, in order to meet the needs of the people in their community and beyond.

Lyrics

Only Love Can Save Me Now

Written By: Adam Wheatley

I have followed my heart to a barren land
Made my bed of rocks and sand
I have loosed my grip that once held Your hand

I have begged again for a second chance
Then turned away without a glance
And even I've grown tired of this song and dance
Hallelujah

Only love can save me now
Free me of my fear and doubt
I need You from the inside out
Only love can save me now

I have made a fool's request
Took my inheritance and left
But You were closer then than my next breath
Hallelujah

Only love can save me now
Lay to waste my fear and doubt
I need You from the inside out
Only love can save me now

You have long looked past my shame
Noticed me and called my name
You sought me out and staked Your claim
Hallelujah

Only love has saved me now
Turned my fear to holy ground
I was lost but now am found
Only love has saved me now

Only love, only love
Only love can save me now

Beauty In the Breaking Down

Written By: Adam Wheatley

I hid away
All the promises that I made
Lost the light I need to find my way to You

You called me out
I found beauty in the breaking down
Surrender played a song that I could sing

Where else can I run
Where all my fears will come undone?
So I'll keep holding on to You, my love
I'll keep holding on

You drew the line
I took my chances and I walked the wire
Fixed my eyes on You and I was changed

You've won my soul
Broke the silence and my heart of stone
You walked right in and gave my heart it's beat

Where else can I run
Where all my fears will come undone?
So I'll keep holding on to You, my love
I'll keep holding on

There is no fear in love
There is no fear in love
There is no fear in love with You

Where else can I run
Where all my fears will come undone?
So I'll keep holding on to You, my love
I'll keep holding on

Torn In Two

Written By: Adam Wheatley

I won't hide
What good would that do now?
You found me with my face on the ground

I can't lie
Sometimes I won't do right
'Cause I'm weaker when I don't let You inside

Would You remind me who I am in Your eyes?

If I was torn in two
If I was torn in two
Between the way I run
And the way I need You

Would You tell me something true?
Would You tell me something true?
I want to believe
I want to follow through

So come like a soldier
Dressed up for the war
'Cause we're going to battle all these demons
Knocking down my door

Would You remind me that You've come to fight?
There's no losing with You on my side

If I was torn in two
If I was torn in two
Between the way I run
And the way I need You

Would You tell me something true?
Would You tell me something true?
I want to believe
I want to follow through

Save me from myself
I'll be Yours forever

If I was torn in two
If I was torn in two
Between the way I run
And the way I need You

Would You tell me something true?
Would You tell me something true?
I want to believe
I want to follow through

Gravity

Written By: Adam Wheatley

You have seen my ends
And You know my beginnings
Like a fashion my heart has come and gone

I would never stray
But I am prone to wander
Though grace has kept me coming back for me

You are just like gravity
You come in close and pull me back to You
I would never run away
No matter where I go You stay with me
Yeah, You're just like gravity

I have raised this wall
And built up my defenses
But You always know how to break me down

And despite how hard I fall
You look past my secrets
And search me till I finally am found

You are just like gravity
You come in close and pull me back to You
I would never run away
No matter where I go You stay with me
Yeah, You're just like gravity

When Love Has Come Along

Written By: Adam Wheatley

Oh my Love, where have You gone
I treated You like an alibi
I dressed You up with empty words
And good intentions I wore as my disguise

I see my reflection in the crowd
Brothers, sisters, and enemies
Oh my Love, we need You now
You gave Your life, You came to show us how

I will lay me down
Grace how sweet your sound
Hope will find it's song
When love has come along

Oh my Love, what have You done
You gave me grace to fill my eyes
You put Your heart within my reach
Yeah, You put Your heart right next to me

I will lay me down
Grace how sweet your sound
Hope will find it's song
When love has come along

Love speaks louder than I can
Love speaker louder through my hands

I will lay me down
Grace how sweet your sound
Hope will find it's song
When love has come along
