Bio

For Adam Wright, music isn't just a hobby or something he enjoys doing; it's what he loves to do. Adam grew up listening to music and acquired a passion for it at an early age. His musical career began in third grade when he began taking piano lessons. He picked up the guitar on his own during his junior year of high school and started writing original songs the following year. His style is very versatile, having been influenced by a number of artists over the years. Nickel Creek, John Mayer and James Taylor, (to name a few), sum up the sounds you’ll hear when you listen to his album, “Right By My Side.” He is currently attending the University of Montevallo pursuing a degree in music. He will be a senior this year and will graduate in May ’05.

Along with an extreme passion for music, Adam has developed a conviction for the present-day church. Even though he grew up in the church, he has become aware that many “Christians” develop a false perception of the Gospel in which they simply modify their behavior just enough to hide sin from others and appear as “good and wholesome people.” He feels that Christianity has become less of a genuine relationship with a genuine Savior and more of a false identity that allows us to feel good about ourselves and be held in high regard by others. Adam echoes this quote from Derek Webb: “The Gospel has not failed us; we have just failed to believe it.” This conviction has led Adam to write songs that encourage audiences to cling to the Gospel in both its beautiful and offensive state.

Adam plans to pursue a musical career when he graduates from college. At this point, he can’t think of anything else he’d rather be doing than singing and talking about the change that Christ alone makes in our lives and our communities. “I feel like there is so much more to learn, but my primary objective is to share what God is teaching me right now with the people who will listen.”
