Addie Thompson

My music is a unique mix of poetic lyrics and catchy hooks that combines several genres, ranging from pop to rock to folk. My performance, however, gives the music its edge - it's when I get to let my passion for music and energetic presence shine through. Take a listen ... see what you think!

My name is Addie Thompson; I am 17 years old and a senior at Waynflete School in Portland, Maine. When I was in 6th grade, I was frustrated by the type of music on the radio and became inspired to write music that fit my tastes. After trying to take a few guitar lessons, I decided to teach myself how to play guitar, writing some songs here and there. I formed an all-girl band that year, which grew to include four members and last four years. We played concerts at our school and throughout the local community. Though I was having fun, I felt I needed to break out and express my own feelings with just an acoustic guitar and a microphone. I started playing coffeehouses at my school and got a great reaction from my friends whom, I felt, could be the toughest critics. I set up a little recording studio in my room, consisting of two microphones and a laptop, and put together five or six songs for a demo. The feedback was even more positive, and I got the amazing opportunity to record a real demo and to get my music out there. I keep writing songs everyday, and with a couple of notebooks full of lyrics, I have plenty of ways to express my thoughts and feelings through my own personal outlet – music.

Set List

My sets are typically 3-4 songs in length, depending on how long I am needed to play! I like to have a variety of songs to present, so I will usually pair upbeat songs with ballads, powerful songs with softer ones, etc.
