Introducing Adia (EP) 2006

Adia has been singing since she was five years old, and started writing at the age of eight. She has strived since that young age to accomplish her dream of being a professional singer songwriter.
Adia comes from a multiracial and multicultural background which has helped her become the open minded and diverse artist that she is today. Music has always been in the family. Her father was a session percussionist who played with the likes of Chaka Khan and Rufus, and her mother as well as grandmothers on both sides had beautiful voices which Adia grew up listening to. Growing up Adia's house was filled with all kinds of music from all over the world.
Adia has always focused on writing good music. Just because you've got a hot beat doesn't mean it's going to be a hit. You need a well written song and a good melody behind it. Adia understands this and has worked to hone her talent and ear. Throughout the years adia has performed at numerous venues from talent contests to open mics and worked with many producers. Adia has gathered inspiration form many of the artists who have influenced her throughout her life. All of them singer/ songwriters as well. Minnie Riperton, Amel Larrieux, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Prince, Phil Collins, and Marvin Gaye, among many others.
Currently Adia is working on building her catalog of songs. Adia is writing the songs of the future and can't wait to share them with the world. In 2006, Adia qualified (2nd place) in VH1 (“SONGWRITER OF THE YEAR)”, for “Hey Love” from her 2006 EP"Introducing Adia" . In 2008, Adia was runner up for October rounds in the VH1 (“SONGWRITER OF THE YEAR), for “Body Move”. Adia looks forward to a successful year in 2009 and beyond.
