Bio

Using the unique blend of Indian Classical Raga's along with Jazz's complex harmonies while mixing Indian Music's intricate rhythmic system with Jazz's "in-the-pocket" grooves, this collaboration highlights a new style of music based on spontaneous creativity. Along with heavy improvisation, the group carefully composes pieces that highlight the similarities between both Jazz and Indian Classical Music

This group seeks to explore musical expression and composition through the mystical poetry of Meera Bhai, Saint Tukaram, Rabrindranath Tagore and Saint Kabir to name a few.

These compositions keep intact the aesthetic qualities of Indian Classical music and Jazz while adding a more modern musical approach to both styles. The meaning behind the lyrics of these great poets and mystics, inspire us to create and compose music that is not completely bound by rules, scales, or structures, but is rather guided by feeling and intuition. These poems transport one’s mind from the mundane to the metaphysical; when the mind begins transcended its own physical barriers, true creativity and expression from within ourselves is able to shine forth with ease and joy.

Aditya Prakash, a young vocalist trained in South Indian Classical Vocal and percussion, has had the rare privilege of touring and performing with the legendary Pandit Ravi Shankar.
The Le J Trio is a group consisting of pianist Julian Le, drummer Jake Jamieson, and bassist Owen Clapp.
