adjustible

 Nashville, Tennessee, USA
BandAlternativeRock

Off-kilter, guitar-based pop rock influenced by Wilco, The Exit, Crowded House.

Biography

Rock and roll will never die, but it sure can take on a lot of different forms. This is the idea behind adjustible: at the core is a heart and mind behind the songs, while the sound takes on influences from Wilco to Crowded House, Faith No More to The Clash, Steve Albini to Henry Mancini.

adjustible has recently enjoyed having multiple songs in the Top 20 Requested on iRadio LA as well as being featured on the weekly show Indie Traffic Jam, and has some improbably famous friends on myspace.

But then, who doesn't?

The band is currently working on finishing demos for the upcoming adjustible album.

Lyrics

Hey Colleen

Written By: Gavin Ivester

Hey Colleen
You like to look so tough
You like to drive so fast
You got that love and hate tattoo
And ‘Goddess of Disaster’ (written ‘round your ankle)

I like your purple hair and the gap between your teeth
Yeah, I think I might love you
Your sarcastic sense of humor running underneath
Yeah, I think I might love you

I brought you lunch last week
And then a flower on Friday
I waited by the phone I really thought you would call
And invite me to your barbecue on Sunday

I like your devil-may-care and your motorbike
Yeah, I think I might love you
Some of my friends said you might even be a person who likes girls
But yeah, I think I might love you
I call that number you gave me but you’re never in?
I’m pretty sure I might love you
I wanna tell your roommate you’re gonna be my new girlfriend
Yeah, I think I might love you

[hey, um, it’s me again, Colleen’s not there is she?
What?
Oh, oh, ohmygod, how great I mean how cool, it’s you, I’ve been—
Who is this?
Um, you know, it’s me, from work? I fixed your laptop last month, and…
CLICK/dial tone]

I don’t know if you know, but I’m into the poetry scene
Yeah, I think I might love you
I even got a piece about, well, you, in a magazine
Yeah, I think I might love you
I’ve been thinking about getting a bike myself, you know…
I’m pretty sure I might love you
Plus I stopped eating red meat, I don’t know if it shows
Yeah, I think I might love you

Freak of Nature

Written By: Gavin Ivester

School days were totally lame
Nobody even knew your real name
Picked on or tossed aside
You didn’t even bother to hide
[We would like to apologize
We simply never realized
(you’re supersized)]

Freak of nature, answer the phone
Freak of nature, nobody‘s home

Maybe what we need is perspective
You see what no one else can see
Should the future include all these bombs?
Tell us how the world should be

Freak of nature, the world needs you now
Freak of nature, the world needs you now

Please forgive us our trespasses and tell us everything that you know

Freak of nature, the world needs you now
Freak of nature, the world needs you now
Freak of nature, the world needs you now

She's Nothing

Written By: Gavin Ivester

I’ll call you on the phone from her place
when this all settles down
when we settle down

I’ll probably tell you where I am
you won’t say you already know
I bet you already know

It’s a good thing the cops came when they did
we’d be together now
messy as ever now

She’s nothing
she’s nothing
she’s nothing at all like you

We spun donuts out on the salt flats
circling around until we fell down
and we went down hard

Too dizzy to see what we had
squandered all that potential for speed
Now there’s nothing at all

You probably know exactly where I am
You could see it coming for awhile
I could see it coming too

She’s nothing
she’s nothing
she’s nothing
she’s nothing at all

I’m gonna call you in a week or two
Please don’t cry over me
And I’ll try not to think about it, but

She’s nothing
she’s nothing
she’s nothing
she’s nothing at all
to me
