Debut EP from Scottish singer songwriter, citing influences such as Joni Mitchell, Ani diFranco and Tori Amos. Adriana Spina, backed by a fine band on three of the five songs here, writes confessional lyrics about relationships, with lovers, with family. At times she has a striking image such as on “The Hardest Thing To Do” where she sings “they say there is no love that doesn’t pierce the hands and feet, the sweetest suffering.” This bare acoustic song is perhaps the best here and displays a distinct Joni influence. Opening song, “A Thousand Lives” has some striking guitar playing by Gary Carmichael over a sensuous rhythm as Adriana’s vocals coldly describe someone who appears to be trapped in a relationship. Overall a worthy effort with an album in the works at some point. www.adriana-music.com PK

Adriana’s voice has that floaty, dreamy touch to it that makes it oh so appealing… the songs venture into deep, thought provoking notions which are beautifully written…I absolutely adored the pace and ideas contained in Aisha...the track ‘A Thousand Lives’ has that saddening appeal that demands subtle attention. - MAverick, September 2005
