Bio
As a child, growing up in Venezuela, I was always drawn to the art of performing and songwriting. I learned to play the Cuatro, a four-string traditional Venezuelan instrument, and began to write songs at the age of nine giving birth to a skill that would later mature into a rewarding talent for me. At the age of thirteen I moved from Venezuela to my birthplace, which is Moline, Illinois. Here I adopted the guitar as key instrument to help shape my unique style.
Because I sing and write in both English and Spanish, I am able to communicate my thoughts and emotions from two cultural perspectives. My mayor musical influences range from Latin Rock/Pop to traditional Latin American music. Although I have been recognized for my Spanish songs, my abilities as a songwriter have allowed me to generate material that ranges from one end of the music spectrum to another. In the end, you encounter an artist that not only generates great versatility, but also a wide appreciation for all styles of music.
In addition to receiving second place in last year's Billboard Songwriting Contest with the song "Marchitado", I have also been honored as a finalist in the 2002 John Lennon Songwriting Contest for the song "Te Quiero Desnudar", my first studio work. I have also received honorable mentions for songwriting from other distinguished organizations.
