This Georgia born – Jersey bred Hip - Hop artist, is a new breed of female MC. ADRIFT became serious about her poetic hobby in 2001. Having been an avid writer most of her life, Hip Hop was a natural progression.
ADRIFT DA BELLE ‘s voice can captivate event the most jaded of Hip Hop heads with gritty, realistic, word play from a woman’s prospective. Her solo(full length) debut entitled DA THREAT showed the lyrical maturity and flow diversity most would expect from more established male Hip-Hop artist.
Determined to succeed, ADRIFT’s feeling is that the hood needs to be seen from different perspectives in order to be fully understood (not stereotyped). Just ask her she’ll tell you “Tatemville isn’t a cake walk neither are East Orange or Newark but everyone isn’t the same, there are a hundred stories to a block during the winter – imagine the summertime. And, we aren’t all gang banging’ and selling drugs, I mean you do what you do but as you mature you learn there isn’t a shortcut to paradise.”
Don’t expect jewels and cock tales from this aspiring artist. According to ADRIFT “ . . .if I don’t have it I don’t claim to have it, if I don’t do it I don’t claim to do it or claim to have done it. That’s not why I rock…I rock cause (1) I love it and you be hard pressed to find someone messing with me and (2) cause the shorties where I’m from need role models. Everybody leaves…they get a deal they leave – I left to get a deal and to go back so they could see you can do anything if you focus…it’s our God given right to succeed – nobody tells shorties that no more…you want to be Joe Blow Hard Flow cool…when I touch the mic I tell them… I show em…this is what you do when you want something”
