"National article about Aduro's Keyboardist!"

There is no such thing as a “typical day” in a band. We are pretty consistent with our band practice schedule, but shows, venues, crowd, and weather always varies. We never know how any show will turn out and what to expect. There have been times we played in front of only a few people and it was the most fun we’ve ever had. One thing we’ve all learned is to throw out your expectations and have fun doing what you love because it can be just as fun to play in front of 5 people as it is to play in front of 500. - HerCampus.com

"TheHeat757 interviews Aduro!"

We have an extremely diverse cast of characters on our band roster:
Our guitarist, Muj, moved to the area all the way from Bangladesh. Shannon (keyboards/synth/vocals) is from New York, and Travis (lead vocals) originally lived in San Diego. Bill (drums) is from Detroit, and Jason (bass) is the only actual local; he grew up in Portsmouth. Now we are based in Norfolk. - theheat757.com

"William and Mary's Flat Hat does a full page spread on Aduro!"

Many young musicians dream of touring the country, playing in front of thousands of people and developing a large fan base. For the band Aduro, however, featuring Jason Durso ’12, these dreams have become reality.

Aduro consists of Travis Heath (vocals), Mujtaba Habib (guitar), Shannon Farrell (keys), Bill Manley (drums) and Durso (bass). Friday morning, Aduro took the stage on the Hampton Roads Morning Show. - Flathat.com

"Hampton Roads Show blogs Aduro's EP release!"

Keeping on the fire theme, our friends in Aduro are releasing their new EP, “Hearts On Fire” tomorrow. They have been streaming it online for the last few days and today you can still hear the title track. One word: FANTASTIC. - Wavy.com

"Jansport battle of the bands for SXSW 2012"

Aduro is the Latin imperative of the verb “set ablaze,”. Less than one year after forming, this alt-rock group from Norfolk, VA built up a reputation for high-energy live shows, professional demeanor, and a genre-transcending musical style. - JanSport

"Aduro wins battle of the bands at 37th and Zen"

Last, but certainly not least was the alternative rock band Aduro. Lead by male vocalist Travis, this Norfolk band came with at least 20 fans. Muj, Nick, Bill and Shannon complete the compliment of Aduro and they were just as polished as Photosynthesizers. Aduro has been creating buzz and a following throughout the 757 and we finally got a chance to witness the hype. Travis kept the crowd going with tracks like “House of Cards” and “Listen”. It was clear that Travis was the best male vocalist of the evening and it certainly left the judges feeling like this would be a hard one to figure out.

In the end, it was Aduro winning by a close margin over Photosynthesizers. Runner-ups are invited back for a rematch, so you can catch the bands again sometime in the near future. The crowd was the real winner as we were treated to a variety of music and entertainment (and good food!). You can find out more information about the Battle of the Bands and 37th and Zen at www.37nzen.com. - Mace and Crown

"Aloft 50 Days of Music winner, Aduro, talk show, new EP and favorite muppets"

Many have said being in a band is like being a family. For the 5 members of Aduro, this couldn’t be more true. Coming together from all corners of the world, these guys and gal create music that has connected and rallied them to hundreds of loyal fans (yay, more family!). This year, Travis, Muj, Bill, Shannon and Jason united their troops to help land them a slot at Aloft‘s prestigious Live in the Vineyard showcase. Between getting flown out to wine country and knocking a few back with artists like Jack’s Mannequin, these guys have plenty of stories. Check out what they shared with me just a week after their performance. - Sonicbids

"Up And Coming Music: Aduro"

There’s something to be said for local and unsigned bands. Be it their passion to get their names out or the spirit of the message they deliver with their music, I’ll stand behind any ‘up and comer’ band almost immediately compared to your every day signed act. Enter Alternative Rock group Aduro, a local act hailing from Norfolk, Virginia.

With already one EP under their belt, Aduro (whose name is latin derivative from the term ‘set ablaze’) is poised to set the world on fire with a sound that has to literally be heard to be appreciated. It could be their energy, or even their sound, but my betting money is on their personality. Every group has their calling card and Aduro’s personality is a signature that is truly unique to experience. Every track from the band’s current EP ‘Listen…‘ resonates with a musical vibe that’s a combination of edge, feel good and inspirational.

Lead singer Travis Heath’s vocals deliver a soulful sound that elevates the music to a level that’s quite past the humbling alternative demeanor of their music but completely complimenting the overall sound of the band. With the talents of Mujtaba Habib on guitar, William Manley on drums, Shannon Farrell with keys and vocals and Jason Durso on bass, Aduro’s sound isn’t cookie-cutter at all. The opening track House of Cards grabs you immediately with its playful guitar, mellow drums and rich vocals and before you know it, you’re experiencing a different taste of rock that most of today’s alternative bands can’t begin to compete with.

Based out of Norfolk, VA, Aduro is currently in the studios wrapping up production on their second EP release which is slated for release in November. The group is also planning for an East Coast concert tour and are currently competing for a spot in the Live at Aloft Hotels: 50 Days of Music competition to open for Daughtry, O.A.R. and other bands in Napa, CA. You can learn more about them via Twitter@aduromusic and follow the group on Facebook. - Popculture Shock

Bio

Fusing elements of post-rock with more traditional rock stylings, the Indie-Rock band Aduro from Norfolk, VA combines tight, driving drum and bass rhythms with ambient guitar and synth lines to provide a solid foundation for frontman Travis Heath’s powerful rock vocals. Their breakout single, “House of Cards,” took them to a dominant position regionally in early 2011. This success turned national when the band was voted the “best unsigned artist” out of over a thousand entrants and awarded a spot at the prestigious “Live in the Vineyard, Presented by Aloft Hotels.” Here, they were called “a band to watch” and shared the stage with national acts O.A.R., Jack’s Mannequin, Daughtry, Safety Suit, Javier Colon, and Christina Perri, among others. Shortly after, they were announced as top 10 finalists in Jansport’s Battle of the Bands, an international competition between thousands of bands.

As an unsigned act, the band relies heavily on their down-to-earth grassroots campaign to build a fanbase. Their musical and personal appeal has served them well; shortly after the start of their national success, Sonicbids praised this powerful connection between band and fans on their “Daily Gig Guide.” Independent blogs and radio stations have taken up the call to arms, with NPR’s “Out of the Box” naming them as one of the region’s “Top 10 Alt-Rock bands of 2011” and PopCultureShock praising their debut release: “Every track from the band’s current EP ‘Listen…‘ resonates with a musical vibe that’s a combination of edge, feel good and inspirational.”

Aduro’s live shows are also lauded by reviewers, who frequently comment on the band’s personality. Though each member hails from a different part of the globe, they’ve formed powerful family-like bonds with one another. Their performances are tight and clean, and each member clearly values their relationship with the rest of the band. With the release of their self-titled 2nd EP slated for April 2012 and an East Coast tour in the works for Summer 2012, Aduro is working hard to spread their music and nourish their constantly-growing fanbase.
