Biography

Two-man powerhouse Martin Roberts and Lee Tyler are well versed in the art of electronic music. But having marked their territory under a different guise since partnering up in 2004, they're taking matters into their own hands this year with new project AELIUS.

Currently writing their debut album - where brazen, hell-bent beats and synths crash into the bones of post-rock – this act destroy the boundaries of indie and dance with their intrepid, no-holds-barred offerings.

With their debut self-titled EP on its way, the guys have already laid down tracks like the chiming power-surge of 'Echoes...' - a sparse, ghostly meditation bursting out of the straitjacket for a titanic sized chorus. Having had its debut on Eddy Temple-Morris' XFM show and being picked up by US radio; it's been the talk of the blogosphere and beyond, hailing this "blazing synth anthem" as "mind-blowing".

Self-confessed musical gadgetry aficionados, their Soho studio is home to all sorts of technological witchery; a considered mix of analogue and digital, from honing sounds on Moog synthesizers to mixing down to reel-to- reel tape decks.

Sharing vocal duties, they're in knee-deep from start to finish, programming, recording and mixing everything within the enclaves of their den.

Now moving out of the studio and onto the stage, Martin and Lee have grafted on extra limbs in the form of drummer Hugo Steel and guitarist Ian Lancaster, and together they make up a fully-functional, four-dimensional live unit. They've begun to map out their trajectory, having set the Barfly alight at a recent sold-out show, and plans are afoot for a number of summer appearances.

AELIUS extol the virtues of musical yin-yang and doing it for yourself; stay tuned.
