Lyrics

Hesitate

Written By: Andrew Cameron

These clothes could be an ashtray
But I don't smell a thing
Just the subtle hint of your perfume
Lingering
Invited you again
When asked to bring a friend
Now in the back of this taxi cab
I'll kiss your cheek and hold your hand and

You won't say...
And I'll hesitate again
Until we're almost home
And it's so strange
That nothing has changed
In all these years I've known you,
We're both still alone

It could have been so...
But I don't know
All the answers to the questions that you pose
And I know one day you will go
And I'll remember how, once upon a time
I came so close

You won't say...
And I'll hesitate again
Until we're almost home
And it's so strange
That nothing has changed
In all these years I've known you
We're both still alone

You should not have to change

I've never heard you complain
But I know that you miss the northwestern rain
Thus the desert defeats
Your stated purposes for moving east

So let's not tell them how we met
Because without prompting they will all forget
And there's enough romance, in penning these words
Rather than holding hands

Faith will hold you together
Faith will keep us apart
Burning bright for the shortest of times
We knew that we would from the start

From the puzzle He cut
The two jigsaw pieces that have become us
Just a boy and a girl
But pieces must touch before a picture's revealed to the world

Faith will hold you together
Faith will keep us apart
Burning bright for the shortest of times
We knew that we would from the start

Faith will hold you together
Faith will keep us apart
Burning bright for the shortest of times
We knew that we would from the start

You should not have to change

A Remarkable Lack of Foresight

Written By: Andrew Cameron

3am, a northbound train
Your head is in my lap, you're nodding off again
And as the carriage glides,
The sadness starts to fill me, as I realise we're running out of time

Lighting up for miles around,
When the afternoon became like night
Beneath the suffocating winter clouds
And we stood ankle-deep,
In freezing rain that fell, and pooled around our feet.

And time, it moves so swiftly now
I forgot how to slow down

Didn't it feel like home, here in my arms?
Moving in time, with a smile in your eyes
Despite what we hoped, or thought it could be
We knew we faced this reality

And now you're gone, I drive into the dark
To look at all your photographs because they make you feel much closer than you are
And if we lost them to the flames,
Would the things that we remember be the same?

Saying that you wish we would
Is not the same as doing everything we could

Didn't it feel like home, here in my arms?
Moving in time with a smile in your eyes
Despite what we hoped, or thought it could be
We knew we faced this reality

And we didn't think this through
How we should act
With a remarkable lack of foresight
That tells me that we should have relaxed
Before we made up our mind

Because there must be a way that you could be here tonight
