"Affairs at The Waterfront"

Affairs travelled from Hull to follow Founders onto the stage as the final support act of the evening. With vocals reminiscent of Editors, guitar structures that bring to mind the best work of Foals and The Maccabees, and a fashion sense that echoes Friendly Fires (and a dozen up and coming hipster bands), Affairs certainly tick the right alternative/indie/electro boxes.

Most importantly, they are very good. James Robinson is a front man that is quirky enough to catch the ear but crucially, talented enough to add that extra dimension to their well constructed songs. Think moody yet bouncy, angular structures layered with intense, brooding vocals, dressed in button up check shirts and dancing a bit like your dad. It works though, trust me. - Concrete, UEA Student Newsletter

"Affairs Highlight Wychwood"

Before I publish part two of Wychwood festival coverage thought we would share with you some extra images and words about a young band called the Affairs who really shone out at Wycwhood festival, hailing from Hull University, their creativity and maturity in music writing and presence on stage surpassed their presusumed years of age. It is can be all too easy to flimsily compare one muscian or band to another, but I think it is quite a natural thing to do. The four piece band fronted by vocalist James Robinson possessed an unlikely voice, I know we should not presume from a front cover, but this young musicians voice had superb richness and depth of character just led me to raise an eyebrow, on listening to their song Cours-la-Reine I found myself thinking… “oh Talking Heads, no…. Two Door Cinema Club…. oh hang on perhaps Orange Juice”. No matter what flourishing notes that echo to my ears, what little resemblance to others music they remind me of, there is no doubt that these lads definitely have a strong identity of their own, intensely infectious music that leaves a footprint in the back of your head! - PuttyFoot

"Affairs Release Music Video For The Moody Track “Cours-la-Reine”"

"Somewhere in between The Smiths, Joy Division, Interpol, and modern indie rock, Affairs are a very interesting new four-piece from the UK. The word has been spreading fast about this young band with a classy sound." - Independent Music (Mar 13, 2012)

- Amazing Radio (Feb 11, 2012)

"BBC Introducing - Affairs"

"The quality of the vocal is absolutely brilliant. (Sands) It's got a lot of space in it, a big drifting track that really suits them" - Alan Raw, BBC Introducing

"Affairs"

"A five piece full of character, and fronted by the very dramatic and mesmerizing James Robinson who possesses such a unique vocal" - TenFootCity Magazine

"CD Review – “Cours-la-Reine/Sands” by UK indie rockers Affairs"

"With equal parts Morrissey-type darkness and The Clash-inspired upbeat post-punk, up-and-coming UK band Affairs have a classic yet modern sound on their new two track release entitled “Cours-la-Reine/Sands”. Singer James Robinson sounds eerily similar to Morrissey, as he croons over the atmospheric and almost operatic textures in the bands music." - All Whats Rock (Mar 13, 2012)

Bio

Affairs have emerged as exciting new prospect and are a regular feature on BBC Introducing and have had internet radio airplay from stations such as Amazing Radio. The band have been together for the best part of two years, and they have a distinct indie/electro style. Their sound combines electro sample mash-ups, oriental influenced guitar parts, tropical percussion, richly intense vocals and dancing your dad would be proud of.
