A Fir-Ju Well has continued to make a larger impression on national audiences with their relentless tour schedule in 2005. Playing over 200 dates to include SXSW, headlining a showcase in at both CMJ in New York and Paste Magazines Rock & Reel festival. A Fir-Ju Well was also honored to perform at the South East's most notable festival Music Midtown. 2006 has announced their appearance back at SXSW in Austin and Noise Pop in San Francisco.
A fir-Ju Well has shared the stage with countless comrades such as Cat Power, The Killers, Low, British Sea Power, Fiest, The Black Lips, Kenne
By condensing a palette of swirling and innovative guitar voyages and a sweat-soaked and baroque punk ethos that loses itself in carpet-crawling majesty, A Fir-Ju Well has emerged as Atlantas favorite rock and roll son. The band consists of four young players, each writes, sings and perform on multitude of instruments. Brothers Nick and Peter Furgiule, along with Pete DeLorenzo and Matt McCalvin have continually built steam by crisscrossing the country and honing their chops on rock and rolls frontline. Crafting an art-damaged and intense presence, the groups sound falls somewhere between My Morning Jacket meets Beck with a splash of The Kinks: sexy humble and unmovable. In person the groups humble and soft-spoken demeanor instills a sense of alluring mystery. But on-stage A Fir-Ju Well explodes.
Never ones to hang on to the same instruments for too long, on-stage each member of the group sprints and hurdles from station to station, swapping out guitar for bass for drums for voice. As a result the groups multifaceted musicianship culminates in dense and cerebral rock mantras that are hard-wired to both the head and the heart.
The groups unparalleled live performances and fluid song writing have delivered A Fir-Ju Well out of Atlanta and onto the rest of the countrys indie avenues. Coming off of headlining a CMJ showcase and playing over 200 tour dates this year and continue to fill all the notable rooms with in Atlanta. Absolutely( International Hits Records, 2005) is their third and most critically acclaimed release to date charted on the CMJs top 100. A Fir-Ju Well is on the rise.
When not hustling its sounds on the road, the band lives together in a historic, Civil War-scarred house in Atlanta. Their collective roof serves as a space of steady and creative artistic expansion where daily practices regularly stretch out as long as 6 hours. This band of flavorful and refreshing songwriters evokes the sounds of an era when rock and roll was not a wardrobe, but a philosophy and a lifestyle filled color and bite.
