Bio
The concept behind Berlin based a forest was constructed from the unusual casting of drums, two-part voices, keys and a laptop. Live recorded trumpets, strings, synth basslines, driving drum grooves and choral song all contrast to give references ranging from soul recordings of the 70's to minimal techno!
The voices of the two singers couldn't be more different: on the one it's Fabian Schuetzes rough warm timbre, on the other hand it's Franziska Benkerts transparent lines. Florian Wienczny although not singing, understands his drums not as mere rhythm machine but as an instrument between jazz phrasings and overpowering strategy.
Their debut 'Leaves Leaves Fall Fall Rain Fall' was released in 2010 followed by a new Ep called 'A Square' in spring 2011. The five tracks on the new Ep give an idea of the bands progress, a powerful and deep sound, tumbling between minimalistic approach and epic gestures.
Continuously gigging since forming two years ago all across europe, including this years Dockville Festival in Hamburg and support shows for Hurts and Kakkmaddafakka. Play support has come already on BBC 6 Music, XFM, major German radio stations plus the bands music was chosen to feature on the recent compilation 'Listen To Berlin'.
