This sextet of highly talented young men from Africappella are no strangers to music. With each one of them having been exposed earlier on to the musical and cultural melting pot of Soweto in South Africa, it is no wonder they produce such rich and captivating harmonies. After paying their dues in Johannesburg's performance scene, they finally landed their first professional gig in 2006 that launched their music career.

The band's music is 100 percent a cappella interlaced with tight jazz harmonies and simple African rhythms. They possess the special talent of mimicking musical instruments, giving you the same live experience you would get from an instrumental band.

The band credits musical icons like Hugh Masekela,Themba Mkhize, Miriam Makeba, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Take 6, Real Group, New York Voices, Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder and Marcus Miller, as their major inspiration.

The band has worked with South African jazz trumpeter Hugh Masekela, performed with Swedish harpist Andreas Vollenweider at the Standard Bank Joy Of Jazz Festival, and opened for Belgian musician Frederik Sioen on his tour of South Africa in 2009.

In the fall of 2010 the band was invited to perform to appreciative audiences in Belgium. Due to public demand, they were invited again for a full tour in December 2011.

Two members of the band, Vuyo and Vusi, boast notable personal achievements. They worked as vocalists with Frederik Sioen in Belgium in 2008. They performed with Andreas Vollenweider at the Montreaux Jazz Festival in July 2011, sharing the stage with Richard Bona and Raul Midon. Vuyo has worked with the who's who of the South African music industry as an accomplished vocalist and arranger.

Africappella has performed on Gospel Gold and Gospel 1, two of South Africa's premier Gospel TV shows.

Africappella's debut album, Blue Junxion, won a 2012 CARA Award for Best African Album.
