From playing at infamous mid-state barn parties in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to touring relentlessly around the southeast, AFRO is surely climbing the ladder to success. Established in fall 2009, the quintet of collegiate musicians consists of Blake Gallant (lead vocals/guitar), Adam Mullis (lead guitar/vocals), Kaitlyn Connor (keyboard/vocals), Chris Conrad (bass guitar/vocals) and Silas Jackson (drums). The Quintet solidified their lineup with the addition of Percussion phenom Jeffe McSpadden in the fall of 2011. One could currently define them as a jazz-fusion band, but they know themselves to be constantly changing. “Eventually we will move away and do something else,” says Adam Mullis. Since attending college the group has grown attached to fusion style music that takes jazz, classical, and international elements,and combines them with progressive rock. It makes complete sense when the group has a classically trained pianist, a jazz elitist on lead guitar, and an overall musical intelligence.
