Bio

After dark they say the sun sets, but if you ask AfterDark he's quick to think outside the box and tell you, "Nah that's when the sun rises". It's this mentality that shines through the lyrics he writes. From the meth plagued lands of the Inland Empire Afterdark emerges with a hunger that is heard through every verse. A.D., as the people call him, has been busy running through ciphers all over Southern California and sharpening his craft . He is no stranger to the stage or the people, in fact it's this same hunger that has earned him respect from the Foundation open mic circuit to world famous Wake Up Show with Sway and King Tech. He's a humble man without question and sucker free with out a doubt. You won't find him boasting about grills or jewels. However, you will hear him spitting truths that’ll have you thinking twice and pressing rewind. Although his hard work hasn't catapulted him to the level he plans to attain, it has given Afterdark the opportunity to share the stage with legendary acts such as, Myka 9 of Freestyle Fellowship, Ahmad Jamal, Oh-No and many others. AfterDark’s latest album titled A.D.D. (dropping Fall 2008) isn't in reference to attention deficit disorder, in fact A.D.D. is an acronym for AfterDark Dominates Dialect! To lay claim to such a title is a bold statement indeed, but by no means is it an understatement. A.D.D. is a 15 track album written and almost entirely produced by this man. ***The subject matter found on this sound piece is deep and heart felt. Ranging from what he would love to do to his boss for firing him to the feelings still lingering from the murder of his uncle in 2007. And from the lust for life infused track titled "Live It Up" to the conscious drenched "Counter Culture" he proves his points loud and clear. As a producer AfterDark remains classic but up to date. Still diggin’ in the crates, bangin’ his drum machine, and rocking shows with a live DJ. With these elements A.D. doesn't fall victim to trying to make good music. Quality is what you can expect. He's not a rich man, but if rhymes were dollars he wouldn't have a worry in the world. But this isn't his reality. So without a question you can catch him booking his own shows, producing his own beats and recording his own lyrics; all while mastering his pro tools set up and still working a 9 to 5. To sum AfterDark up in one sentence would be impossible because he isn't a one-dimensional artist. As a freestyle emcee, songwriter and producer he is definitely some one to look out for. Without question, if luck and fate mix with his determination and work ethic AfterDark may end up as one of your favorite and heavily sought after acts the new world has ever embraced.
