Like the storms that roll across the high plains of Western Nebraska, Afterlife, a new four-piece modern rock band, has roared out of the region with a sound that combines a thunderous power with a positive life-bringing message.

“We can make an impact for God,” says guitarist and founding member Chris Dyson, “not just as a band but as a ministry sharing Jesus’ love through our music.”

“We are excited to see where God will take us,” said bassist Eric Mumm.

The band’s music is fueled by a heavy modern rock sound driven by Nate Beutler, an accomplished drummer and percussionist and highlighted by the soaring, wide-ranging vocals of LeAnn Kampfe. While the band has developed its own powerful signature style, the members aren’t afraid to step away from their familiar sound and follow God wherever He takes them. They write what they are led to write. The result is an emotional mix that speaks to the hearts of people everywhere.

Afterlife’s songs are born out of real experiences, detailing the ups and downs of life, as described in the song “Fall From My Eyes.” Although not a ‘Christian’ song per se, “She Cries at Night” speaks about seeking deeper relationships with the people in our lives.

Afterlife may be a new force on the Midwest Christian music scene, but its members are veteran musicians who have honed their skills through a variety of venues. As music students at Chadron State College, Eric and Nate played in numerous rock and jazz bands together, and took home top honors at the college’s first-ever Battle of the Bands. A graduate of the Guitar Institute of Technology in Hollywood and a veteran of the California metal scene, Chris was a member of hard rock outfit Sciacca, and had signed a speculation deal with Hollywood Sound Recorders. LeAnn’s vocals reflect her rock, R&B, and country influences. An accomplished vocalist, she’s been a featured singer at her church for several years and has competed in local music contests.

Afterlife seeks to blend these musical talents into one cohesive style. Touching on elements of melodic hard rock, metal and acoustic rock, the band’s sound is accessible, yet refreshing. All the members proclaim their love of Christ through their passion for music and welcome every chance to share that love through whatever opportunity God sends their way.
