Against the Dark

Against the Dark was formed in January of 2011 in The Woodlands TX. The three founding members met each other through a twist of fate and immediately created a bond that transcended both their lives and music. As the name suggests we stand opposed to the dark things that plague this world (Needles Violence, Drugs, Alcohol abuse, Selfharm, Suicide, etc.). We want to show people that these are not the only solutions to the problems each of us face each day.

Biographies:
Markus "Beast" Craber has been musically inclined since the age of 5. He was often heard singing along to the radio every chance he got. Around eight, he started playing the piano, and by 13 he had found his true calling at guitar. His first guitar was a beat up acoustic from the neighbor's trash. Once he strummed his first riff, he never looked back. After cycling through multiple bands and projects he came to be a founding member of Against the Dark. Markus, with his distinctive metal/punk guitar style, savage screaming vocals and unique writing skills, helps make AtD's not quite placeable sound roar. Watch out world, Against the Dark is coming, and the "Beast" is coming with ‘em.

Jason "Psycho" Bentch was only 10 when he started taking piano lessons and soon learned he was a quick study. At the age of 12, he picked up drum sticks for the first time and hasn’t set them down since. After several years of lessons and various studio and live performances, Jason has developed a unique style which continues to provide the foundation for his playing today. Having a desire to expand his musical reach, he taught himself how to play guitar and bass, and has taken a strong interest in arranging, mixing, and producing music. 'Psycho', as he's known within the band, is one of the founding members of Against the Dark. He is half of the rhythm section and brings a creative and powerful combination of funk, punk, metal, and rock.

Alanah “Kitten” Beebee had always been passionate about singing, songwriting, and performing. Since she was in elementary school, she dreamed of being the next big thing on TV. By the time Alanah was in 5th grade, she became interested in learning guitar. She took guitar lessons for about 3 days, and then decided she didn’t have the patience for lessons. She picked up her acoustic and proceeded to teach herself how to play. Around the age of fourteen, she realized that in addition to making it big, she wanted to be in a band and write songs that would help people through tough situations in life. Today, as the 3rd founding member of Against the Dark, Alanah draws from her own experiences. Her lyrics focus on the challenges facing young people in society today and give them hope for a brighter tomorrow.

Sophie "Sovie" Marianos, Born in Russia, and moved to the US in 1998, Sophie is the newest member of Against the Dark. Sophie started her musical career around the age of 8. Having an “impeccable sense of rhythm”, she started playing the drums. Shortly thereafter, Sophie realized she had a knack for learning to play instruments. She plays piano, viola, violin, cello and yes the bass guitar. Through a mutual friend, Sophie tried out was immediately accepted into the band. She is a quick study and is already making great contributions.
