Against The Opposition (ATO) is a New School Heavy Metal band based out of Knoxville, TN. Formed late 2008 ATO combines an array of musical influences to create a new style of metal. While trying to keep the bone-crushing brutality of metal, ATO laces their music with piano accents and solos, harmonized vocals including the rare but crucial touch of a female voice, and many other unusual influences to spice up the show.
What separates ATO from most other bands lyrically is the important message each song delivers. Every song is carefully and patiently written to deliver an important message from the hearts of the musicians. This however does not weaken their sound as a heavy metal band. ATO chooses to keep the songs lyrically clean and family friendly (this means no vulgarities) as they strive to be a band that can be heard and welcome in any location.
Although their music does has a unique sound that can be capitalized in a recording studio, ATO also has a way of delivering that sound that can only be experienced live. This type of showmanship is hard to come by in this world of technicality and theoretically mind boggling music; however ATO manages to keep the show energetic as well as musically inclined.
Against The Opposition may be young, both as a band and individuals, but this does not keep them from rising above their circumstances to bring a new and improved addition to the metal scene. They are currently in the post-production stages of recording their demo CD “Prepare for Glory” dated to be released February or March of 2010
