"AGARI CREW : dope Hip Hop from Tokyo to Boston"

AGARI CREW : dope Hip Hop from Tokyo to Boston
Posted by DJ Fab and Doctor Awer on Saturday, July 21st, 2007 at 1:18 pm.

Bio

The Agari Crew is a collective of DJs, MCs, trackmakers, and visual artists.
The word “Agari” in japanese, means “to elevate”. This is exactly the mission of the Agari Crew, to elevate the community, by speaking to individual listeners through a common language, music.
With members located in the US, Japan, and the
Netherlands, the Agari Crew is truly an international entity. More than an entity, Agari is a movement for the disenfranchised listeners that wish the classic age of hip hop would return.
The Agari Crew formed officially in 2005, after KLK and Maestro1ton met at Berklee College of Music in Boston. They traveled to Tokyo, to perform with DJ Mogg at several clubs around the city. Since then, various members have made the journey between the US and Japan for recording sessions and performances.
In fall of 2005, the Agari Crew self-released the "Explosion EP” which put them in contact with many network-circles in the Jazz/Hip Hop scene both in Japan and the US. This led to the production of the “Old School New School” album for Jazz guitarist Richie Hart, as well as “Neverending Story(of an MC)” solo album produced for Boston rapper Anonymous(from Electric/ Project Move).
In 2006, the Agari Crew began branching out from the original six members, and began doing production collaborations with other artists, including Anonymous(from Electric/Project Move), Reks( from M-diesel/Brick Records), Moe Pope(from Mission, Project Move). This gradually led to the formation of Agari Productions as a separate project from Agari Crew the band.
In spite of all of these collaborations, the Agari Crew is still performing and recording their own original
material. They are currently working on their first full-length album, scheduled for release in early 2008, as well as numerous DJ Mixtapes, collaboration EP’s, and instrumental Beat tapes to inspire future collaborations.
“We want to make good music. Period.”
