"One Track Recordings - CD Review"

This gal says whatever the **** she wants; well she sings it and backs it up with a…you guessed it…guitar. Take one look at the song listing on the back and you'll get a pretty good idea of the songs' subject matter. Her unique voice may sound a little harsh and rough at first, but listen for a minute and it takes on a feeling of warmth and raw emotion…backed by a very strong personality that shines through it all. The rhythm of the songs reminds me a lot of classic country…but the sound is all modern. The album goes very nice with dim lights, problems with the opposite sex, and well-aged sour mash whiskey on the rocks (I prefer Marker's Mark). There's a bonus track 12 (3:34). Bio

Edgy and raw are the two words that best describe A Girl And A Guitar. Songwriter Carly Jamison expresses herself simply and honestly with the accompaniment of her acoustic guitar. Her recordings are unadorned, uncomplicated, and unapologetic. She presents her songs in a bare bones manner which allows listeners to wrap their imaginations around them and feel as if the words she sings are their own. She captures an intimate soulful quality that draws you in and makes you feel at home, yet her ambiguity peaks your curiosity and leaves you wondering just who this person is.

Carly Jamison is a songwriter who has been writing songs for many years, but who only very recently has decided to make these songs public. With the help of new technologies such as the internet and social networking websites, it has been possible for her to attract many fans and followers without the backing of, or affiliation with, an established record label or publisher. Her songs receive regular play on internet radio stations, music websites, and social sites such as MySpace. Her work has even attracted the attention of a prominent Nashville producer who she is now in talks with regarding a new studio album.

Carly, herself, shies away from the spotlight as she feels that the true focus of attention should be on her work, her music, and her songs, and prefers to let them have center stage. Her music combines elements of traditional country with elements of blues, roots, folk, rockabilly, and pop, the result of which stretches and defies genre barriers. Her sound is a fusion of early 20th century field recordings, mid 20th century Sun recording sessions, and 21st century sensibilities. Her voice is deep and rich, with a mellow undertone like a fine aged whiskey with hints of Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Janis Joplin, and Patsy Cline. Her approach is candid and forthright. She writes how she feels and she is not afraid to express her opinions. Her take it or leave it attitude lies somewhere between a breath of fresh air and a slap in the face. She leaves it up to you to decide.

Her music is available on iTunes, Amazon, and CDBaby. You can visit her at www.myspace.com/girlandaguitar
