Bio
Ahnli is an electro pop-rock duo comprised of Kevin Elder (production/electric guitar) and OH (vocals/lyrics). Both artists have been active in the Portland music scene for many years, have released albums, and are members of other active projects as well. Their sound is a unique dreamscape of an electro-pop future - undefinable yet totally recognizable.
OH's influences span an immense field; from Laurie Anderson to Roxanne Shante, L7 to Eartha Kitt. Kevin's influences range from the psychedelic soul jazz of Norman Whitfield and the Mizell Brothers to the synth-based disco sounds of Giorgio Moroder and Arthur Russell.
Kevin Elder has released several hip-hop albums on his own Dismal City label under the name Sleepyhead and has released music from other PDX artists. Kevin also performs with fantasy themed rap group Dungeon Bros., makes psychedelic dance music under the name Old World, and has had many regular DJ nights as DJ Honeydripper. His production for Ahnli is sometimes uptempo and danceable, sometimes dark and noisy, and always addictive and catchy.
OH has a solo, independently released album out in Portland. She is an mc in all female rap group Lactacious and is currently producing a solo electro pop album for cassette & cd. Her vocals and lyrics for Ahnli are enchanting, heartfelt and poignant.
