"Adam Hofmann Revival Performance"

It was the high point of my entire spring and truly a memorable evening. Adam Hofmann's music is heartbreaking and uplifting and just AWESOME.

The guys of AHR together have some of the lightest, most fantastic energy and it was amazing to be a part of it.

"A Sound Review - AHR"

Upon first listen to Berklee College of Music graduate (and a West Bridgewater, MA native) Adam Hofmann's debut release, it is obvious from the outset that this cat is diverse in his influences; rock, funk, blues, jazz, soul, you'll find it all packed within these eight original, emotionally-charged songs.

Recorded at Avatar Studios in New York City, Hofmann and his Revival band - Billy Thompson on guitar and bass and Kevin Fortunato on drums - brew up a churning, groove-laden mix of all these various aforementioned vibes and influences, however with a very purposeful approach that digs deeper than simply the influences, but also cultivating them into the ultimate direction of these songs.

The opening "I'm OK" reveals the piano chops from the get-go with a rough-edged, Hornsby-meets-Gregg Allmann feel that cuts right to the chase and let's you know where these proceedings are headed.

The follow up "Tongue Tied" is a bluesy little romp full of soulful vocals and pounding piano fills running over the top of some deep and impeccable bass lines.

"Anxiety" creates a playful drone and a sing-a-long chorus, while the off-beat "Shine" and smooth "Yellow Skies", complete with a sweet closing piano flourish, evokes a jazzy side to the band and interesting change of pace.

"Then Who Am I" soars with the conviction of a Townshend-soaked Who ballad, while the closing "Sing Songs" is a beautiful Hofmann piano ballad creating a moving melody for which to deliver a truly soulful vocal.. with the climax evoking a calmness of completion that leaves one feeling the same.

"AHR - So Damn Bueno"

These songs have an unusual quality of being original, yet vaguely familiar all at the same time. At the same damn time! Some of Adam Hofmann's musical influences are on his sleeve and some of them are up his sleeve. But they all come from the right place and that is located just beneath his neck and above his waist -- we’re talking heart here. Regardless of where these musical influences originated, they convene at a mutual place called honesty and it shows in the work here with his band, the Adam Hofmann Revival.

Negotiation usually ends in compromise, but two non-negotiable elements of a good Rock N' Roll song should include honesty and fun. Not the phoney I’m-gonna-sell-a-million kind of honesty and not the novelty-for-the-sake-of-a-goof kind of fun. It’s something you can’t fake and Adam Hofmann's foray as a solo artist sprays a set of eight songs at you that nails this point in spades! Whether it's a passionate vocal, a nifty guitar break, a pounding piano blitz, a delicate organ fill or a hodge-podge of musical styles that fit nicely into four-minutes or less, this collection of songs holds up nicely to repeated listenings.

Listen up and you’ll be rewarded with traces of Blues, Jazz, Folk and even a bit of Pop coursing through this mix, but make no mistake about it - this is a Rock N' Roll album. With a vocal style reminiscent of early-era white soul singers like Gregg Allman and Bruce Springsteen, coupled with arrangements that evoke the spunk of Herbie Hancock and the tastefulness of Bruce Hornsby, this music seems hauntingly fresh and familiar. It’s kind of like a cheeseburger with a new type of cheese, in the sense that the meat is there so it’s the flavoring that matters. But it’s all bueno, it’s all so damn bueno.
