Bio

Aino Venna is a finnish singer-songwriter. She started solo, but from Autumn 2011 she has performed with a band. Kaisu Koponen (back singing, ukulele) Erik Michelsen (double bass), Joonatan Kotila (guitar, banjo) and Ville Pystynen (cahon) form a tight and dark core around her.

Though Venna performs with minimalism and the arrangements are simple, songs succeed to be more than sum of its parts.

The spring released EP Waltz to Paris was well taken by audience and media. An indie record shop Stupido Shop wrote about the album:
"From the first listening this EP became a classic, we had just reached the third songs when everyone in the shop bought the record - it's a perfect meter for musics level and it's reach. The album is full of chanson, folk, jazz and finnish soul - a perfect package."

Venna is often compared to Leonard Cohen because of her low voice and tone. Songs flirt with old rock'n roll and chansons and take influence from old jingles and schlagers. The lyric draw from past times, books and movies. The main themes are love and loneliness. Why? Because love is always current and we are always alone.

Aino Venna's music is melancholic with a twist, sad with a warm feeling.
It's easy to identify, we have all been there.

HER DEBUT-ALBUM MARLENE WILL BE OUT IN OCTOBER 2012
